3 arrested for throwing rocks at tycoon's sister.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

The woman, who called the police when she was attacked by 3 men, is apparently the target of a jealous wife who hired the unemployed men to scare off her rival. Cherchez la femme.

Three charged for attacks on woman
4 April 2017

Three men were arrested and charged yesterday with threatening to kill a property tycoon’s younger sister and throwing rocks at her luxury car.
Sok Vichetr, a police officer with the Interior Ministry, identified the suspects as Bun Ratana, 30, Keo Sokunnora, 24, and Huon Dara, 22, all unemployed.
They were charged by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court with making death threats and intentional damage to property.

The men were arrested after a police complaint made by the victim, who said they had harassed her on three separate occasions – once last year and twice last month.

Mr. Vichetr said the men followed her car on motorcycle, shouting at her, throwing stones and damaging her wing mirrors.

“Police identified and arrested them in accordance with footage from the victim’s car CCTV,” he said.
An Interior Ministry police officer said yesterday the three men confessed under interrogation.
The men claimed an unidentified woman had hired them to carry out the attacks to scare the tycoon’s sister, who was allegedly having an affair with her husband.
He said police are now seeking to arrest the woman who hired the men.

Thailand is similar to Cambodia with the privileged few at the top. I'm surprised there's not more class warfare.

Well, they kind of already did here...

Either way, society here is still pretty highly stratified. The concept of having countless official titles, knowing your place, saying yes to the boss/always agreeing and all that is fairly deeply engrained, especially with the older generation. Watch the rich showing up at The Place Gym and staff knowtowing, picking up their bags (wait, shouldn't you carry you own bag if you're trying to get fitter?) as they walk in with an aloof look on their face, almost ignoring the presence of the underlings.

You didn't realize most high-end cars have cameras now? Even newer minivans and civics at the minimum have the option if not OE.
Still here, in country...

Well, all these 'underlings' from the provinces having to 'kowtow' to all these aloof, disdainful, uppity neuvo rich.....will remember, and, given the chance, would happily march them out of Phnom Penh at the point of a gun.....

......just as they did in 1975
