Thai and Cambodian 'People Smugglers' Arrested Trafficking 4 Chinese Across the Border
Cambodia News (Banteay Meanchey): On June 7, 2020, the military forces on the Thai border, arrested eight people and confiscated two cars at Robeang Chamkarkor border, in Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey. Two Thai men sent 4 Chinese to cross the border illegally, and two Cambodian men were waiting to receive them.
Due to the pandemic, the border between Thailand and Cambodia is closed to prevent the COVID-19. On June 7, two Thai men took 4 Chinse men to enter Cambodia illegally by taking a car from Sakeo district, Thailand, and went through the Robeang border, to Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey. When they arrived in Cambodia, two Cambodian men took a car and waited to take the group of Chinese men.
However, the border forces were alerted. The military confiscated two cars, eight phones, money for 1,660 baths, and 80 USD. After the case was prepared, the eight people and two cars were taken to Banteay Meanchey province to follow the legal action.
