Re: Full STD panel with only simple urine test
Sounds a lot less painful than a swab test.
Re: Full STD panel with only simple urine test
The chance to catch old fashioned pox would be nice right now...
Re: Full STD panel with only simple urine test
Urine tests are convenient but here are some limitations to be aware of:
#1 the test is NOT comprehensive. It only tests for infections detectable in the urine (via polymerase chain reaction amplification... pcr test like the Covid 19 nasal / throat swab). Here are the 7 diseases it can screen for:
Trichomonas vaginalis
Mycoplasma hominis
Mycoplasma genitalium
Chlamydia trachomatis
Neisseria gonorrhea
Ureaplasma urealytica
Ureaplasma parvum
#2 It does NOT test for HIV or Syphilis (any one getting screened for STI should get screened for these 2 infections as well - these are best screened for via a blood test (antibody blood testing with follow up confirmatory testing).
#3 Some STIs occur in other anatomical locations that would not show up in a urine test. For example I have diagnosed patient's with oral (mouth) and ophthalmic (eye) gonorrhea.
You should probably review the screening recommendations to know how often + when + and what testing is recommended = screening in adults and adolescents ages 15-65: https://www.cdc.gov/std/tg2015/screenin ... ations.htm
