Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

Have the visa restrictions been lifted then? Unless I'm missing something, the notice doesn't say so.Apollo91881 wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 9:52 pm Visa on arrival removes one potential failure for me as well as the added cost of paying a 3rd party to expedite.
I doubt I'd be able to get a test in my country of residence and choose the time to be within 72 hours of departure. I had been counting on getting a test at an airport during a layover. Wonder how strict they'll be about that.

After reading the official translation, it same same for us but making it easier for Cambodian to return home as no test required before flights,
Problem being now you could be on a flight with someone who hasn't been tested making it more risky in my opinion

I'm standing up, so I must be straight.

if there are no new cases and so few cases over the past few months
than WHY?
Japanese to donate medical equipment

Japanese to donate medical equipment
https://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/ ... fi4LMcmzMQThe Japanese government will provide $18 million worth of medical equipment and supplies to the Ministry of Health to help the Kingdom fight Covid-19.
It will also offer nearly $23 million in financial grants to support education and health in Cambodia, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Yeah. And then everyone gets tested once on the ground in Cambodia, and put into the hard quarantine because someone on the flight tested positive... Sounds like a great plan.
Do you think the parents of baby boomers whined so much when the boomers started changing society? And yet the whiney ones like to call young people "snowflakes." Hmm...

Cambodia has reported another recovered case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and one new infection case, announced the Ministry of Health in a news release this morning.
The recovered patient is the 39-year-old Cambodian woman in Phnom Penh who returned from the U.S. She has been allowed to be discharged after being tested negative twice consecutively, pointed out the same source.
For the new case, it added, it was detected on a 26-year-old Cambodian man living in Thbong Khmum province. He attended a religious class in Yala province of Thailand and returned to Cambodia by a van on May 28. He was tested positive for the virus a day later. He was admitted to Cambodia-Japan Friendship Hospital in Mongkul Borei, Banteay Meanchey province on the same day.
Eight other passengers were tested negative, but put under 14-day quarantine at the provincial quarantine centre, while the other passenger will have his sample retested at the Pasteur Institute of Cambodia, said the news release.

Tensions mount on the Thai-Cambodia border, as local Cambodian traders protest the border closure which has shut down their businesses.
1,000 Cambodian traders protest over border closure

SA KAEO: About 1,000 Cambodian traders have picketed at the Thai-Cambodian checkpoint in Ban Khlong Luek in Aranyaprathet district to protest against the prolonged border closure.
Traders assembled on the Cambodia side of the border and voiced their demand for the checkpoint to be reopened so they could cross into Thailand to trade at the Rong Klua market for second-hand goods.
The protest in the early morning had intensified, prompting the Banteay Meanchey provincial office to step in and successfully persuade the protesters to disperse around 9am.
On hearing of the protest, some Thai traders thought the border businesses might resume and drove about 100 trucks with goods to the checkpoint hoping to be given the green light to enter Cambodia.
At the same time, Thai security authorities led by Aranyaprathet district chief Sawanit Suriyakul were present at the border to maintain order.
Col Chisanu Rodsiri, deputy chief of the Burapa task force, and 30 local administrative officials later met representatives of the Banteay Meanchey provincial office to discuss the problem.
About 1,500 Cambodian traders framed with “the Cambodian Association for Economy Development” last week told Banteay Meancheay authorities about their plan to conduct a peaceful rally from June 1-7 to try persuade the authorities to open the border, the Khmer Times reported on Tuesday.
A border source said the Cambodian authorities were informed by the protesters that they suffered economically from the extended emergency decree imposed by the government to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

With 1800 arrivals in one day, their receptions committees must be stretched to breaking point. Apparently, they are taking everyone away and testing and holding them for 24-48 hours while they wait the results. Are there any national holidays coming up soon that will shut the labs for a few days? That will be fun. They must have some very big facilities on standby because if these planes start filling up their system is going to buckle under the numbers.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 7:56 pm A number of airline companies have resumed flights to Cambodia from the beginning of June. It might be worth hanging on for a month or so and letting their systems become overwhelmed at which point they may give it up, take a quick swab test and just tell everyone to self isolate for 14 days at home etc. Any positive tests they come up with can then be hunted down at their home or hotel (or girly bar).
