Malaysian "Heavies" Kidnap and Torture Man Over Unpaid Debt in Siem Reap
Cambodia News (Siem Reap): On May 25, 2020, at 4:15 pm, the police arrested four people (3 Malaysian, and 1 Cambodian) for kidnapping a Malaysian man, NG TECK WEE, 27 years old, from March to May 25, 2020, when they raided a house in Krus village, Sangkat Svay Dong Korm, Siem Reap. The kidnap victim was found alive, but had been beaten and tortured by his captors.
The suspects were identified as TAN CHOUN CHEAT, a 21-year-old Maylasian man, LING WEIKIAN, a 32-year-old Malaysian man, TAN KAS CHIM, a 21-year-old Malaysian man; all three men are employed as "debt enforcers" at Fulongvong loan company, and the Cambodian translator, El Pusstan, was also detained by police.
The suspects have been taken into custody for questioning and case preparation on the orders of Mr. Kerth Sovannareth, the prosecutor of Siem Reap court.
