Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

I wonder if insurance jobs exist here? Most of these clubs have been forced to stay closed which can't be good for the owner and after reading about the American fugitive charged for Arson I wonder if this was the case here....

Looked like it started in the upstairs. Like a bright flash from a stove or something. Was sitting on my balcony just north of Aeon and saw it. Smoke got too bad eventually

If arson, it would have started on ground floor.

What makes you think that 2 litre of petrol spilt upstairs would flow downstairs and catch fire down there ?

Yeah could be arson on the second floor too. Just depends on the arsonists goals.

25 May 2020
Colonel Phos Thong, the Interior Ministry’s Fire Intervention Police Office chief, said yesterday the inferno was caused by a short circuit at about 4.30pm yesterday.

Col Thong said “EDM” was a popular nightclub owned by a Chinese national, which has been temporarily closed since March due to measures taken by the government to close outlets that drew large gatherings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said nobody was inside the club when the blaze started, but equipment to the value of around $100,000 was almost completely destroyed.
