US citizens in Cambodia to receive $1,200 ‘economic impact payment checks’

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

The US Embassy in Cambodia has, so far, received 187 US ‘economic impact payments’ for its citizens living in Cambodia and is now in the process of notifying the recipients, according to a recent embassy announcement verified by Khmer Times today.

The $1,200 payment will be available to US citizens with an adjusted gross income up to: $75,000 for individuals if their filing status was single or married filing separately, $112,500 for head of household filers and $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns.

For eligible taxpayers who filed tax returns for 2019 or 2018, the payments will be received automatically.

live in Thailand but got mine direct deposited 2 1/2 weeks ago into my US citibank account
Anyone who gets there SS wired directly into a US account, regardless where they live, would receive it that way.
Or puts their US bank account # on their tax returns

I can only imagine that these 187 Americans dont have US bank accounts ..so need deposit the checks in a Cambodian bank and hope they can get their money in a few months ,,,What a hassle

2nd quote is not 100% true, If u get SS and made less than $75,000, you would have gotten the $1,200 even if you did not file a tax return.

I haven't filed since 2013
