Volcano gods demand workers

i notice that despite the lament about ruined business and wrecked economies
everyone seems rather shy about insisting capitalists need to share the pain

rent and interest payments should be waived
bailouts should be in exchange for equity, etc

.

monstra mihi bona!

‘Summer is not going to make this go away’: Temperature has little or no impact on spread of coronavirus, new study suggests
‘Seasonality is likely to play only a minor role in the epidemiology of Covid-19,’ scientists conclude
8 hours ago
Scientists say warm weather is unlikely to greatly hamper the spread of coronavirus, dashing the hopes of many — including Donald Trump — who had suggested summer could provide relief from the global pandemic.

Researchers in Canada examined the spread of Covid-19 around the world in late March in places with different humidities, latitudes and public health measures, such as social distancing.

Dr Peter Juni, of the University of Toronto, said in a press release that the team found little or no link between infection spread and temperature or latitude, and only a weak association with humidity.

“We had conducted a preliminary study that suggested both latitude and temperature could play a role. But when we repeated the study under much more rigorous conditions, we got the opposite result,” he said.

By contrast, school closures and other public health measures had been an effective curb on coronavirus, Dr Juni added. “Our results are of immediate relevance as many countries, and some Canadian provinces and territories, are considering easing or removing some of these public health interventions.”

“Seasonality is likely to play only a minor role in the epidemiology of Covid-19,” the study concluded.

temperature hardly applies to temperate climates

try using the tropical model

direct relationship between undeveloped and tropical countries

maybe real issue is non-reporting

Saw a video today by Dutch geographer, and he suggests temperature doesn't play a role by itself, but higher temperatures make people stay outside a lot more with concentrations of the virus being much lower thus having less infections and infections being less severe.

He explained the outbreak in several hotspots in areas with a moderate climate by pointing out events held inside with loads of people in the same room (super spreader events). He also related outbreaks in the tropics (Manaus, Guayaquil) to rainy season with people spending much more time indoors.

Maybe the virus itself isn't effected by the weather, but human behavior is.

I mean, everybody predicted hell and doom for Cambodia, Africa etc etc and what happened? Not so much.... The geographical pattern seems pretty clear....

Check your source. This source does not appear to be reliable. Wikipedia says:
The Epoch Times is a multi-language newspaper and media extension of the Falun Gong new religious movement.[4][5] The newspaper is part of the Epoch Media Group, which also operates New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD).[6] For its articles, the publication draws from a network within China, as well as staff living in the West.[7][8][9] The Epoch Times has been publishing in Chinese since May 2000. It is either sold or distributed free-of-charge in 35 countries, including various international regional editions. The Epoch Times websites are blocked in mainland China.

The media outlet is primarily known for promoting far-right politicians across Europe and the United States, and in particular for its promotion of U.S. President Donald Trump; a 2019 report showed it to be the second-largest funder of pro-Trump Facebook advertising after the Trump campaign.[10][11][12][13] The group's news sites and YouTube channels have spread conspiracy theories such as QAnon and anti-vaccination propaganda.[6][14][15]

Checking your sources is always a good first choice. If the source is questionable, then it's a good idea to mention that.
