Kids with Candles at a Petrol Seller's: RIP
Cambodia News (Ratanakkiri): There was a tragic accident on May 4, 2020, at 9:30 pm, when a house caught on fire, killing two kids, a 4-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old boy, in Rum Yol village, Ratanakkiri. The house owner was their mother, identified as Chin Socheat, a 27-year-old woman.
The police said the woman was selling petrol/gasoline from her house. When some people came to buy gasoline from her, it was too dark to see, so she asked her kid to bring some light. The child came back with a lit candle, and put it close to the gasoline which caught on fire.
The police arrived, and they helped to put out the fire using three firetrucks, but unfortunately, the two children died in the fire.
On May 5, 2020, Mr. Thou Khoeuth, deputy director of Cambodia Red Cross in O'chu district, donated 500,000 riel, 50 kg of rice, and other items, to help the victim's family provide the funerals for the two children. RIP.
