Teenage Mushroom Picker Killed by UXO and 3 Injured

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Blame whoever you want, the US for dropping some or the Khmer for planting them, there all deadly devises supplied in there times by many other outside countries. There too are many countries and organisations, individual charities all cleaning this mess up, and have been doing so over a long time. Has John mentioned China, yes, they was a big supplier, if I am not wrong they made their first donation last year to help clear the UXO's.

Quote - There is still not enough education to alert local people to the dangers of UXOs lying around in forests and fields in certain areas of Cambodia.
Well some overseas organisations had in past years, who's really responsible for the education and wellbeing of its country's people.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Well said, AKK-47.

There were no "white hats" in the USA/China/VN/Thailand/"Free World" V. Cambodia war, and its aftermath.
not even Cambodia.
But certainly some of the bombers had hats, hearts and copy books that were blacker than others.
China and USA being the most obvious.
And their efforts in cleaning up the UXO here is abysmally out of proportion to their culpability.

It is a shame those mushroom pickers did not see the story a few days ago about the potato pickers who had a similar incident.
The blame the USA logic is interesting...
So, All the people in the USA and across the World shot by a Glock should blame Austria? Makes sense to me! Same fucking argument ..right?
There are some very dangerous areas in Cambodia where various armies fled or inhabited.
The more agriculture, construction and tourism just exposes more danger.
Look at the Buddha heads, torsos, and ancient relics found every few days.
So much shit happened for so many decades there are dangerous and wonderful surprises just beneath the surface.

You make some interesting points about the shit that happened in past years, but that of good findings and that of the misery too the unfortunates of yesterday and today. It's also too easy to cover up facts of involvement "lies" is a better word, leaders and governments have took this way from the beginning, but time usually tells the truth. The logic of those food gatherers need to do so for survival while there countryman sit in comfort in their mansions on the new boreys.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Sense???
Not same argument at all, B-5th.
The USA actually did drop their ordinance on Cambodia. in massive amounts.
Directly, consciously, willingly they "pulled the trigger".
they cannot escape the responsibility for that no matter how illogically you try to spin it.

And China, and many others. - same same
