Cambodia News (Siem Reap): On April 20, 2020, five men were arrested for armed robbery at a local shop in Krobao village, Jikreng district, Siem Reap. The suspects were identified as Som Sey, called Mei, 52 years old, Lon Thon, 14 years old, Leng Beab, 22 years old, and Suth Somoul, 25 years old, and another unidentified suspect. The victim who filed the complaint was identified as Ton Boeuth, a 51-year-old woman shop-owner.

Before the incident, on April 19, 2020, at night, the suspects went to the victim's shop wearing motorbike helmets. They knocked on the door, saying they wanted to buy some beer. When the victim opened the door, the robbers stuck a shotgun in her face and threatened her. They made off with US$500 in cash and some gold jewelry.

The next day, on April 20, 2020, the criminal police had a tip-off from local people, and they took the suspects in for questioning. The suspects confessed to the crime, and said that they had shared the stolen money equally between them. After further questioning, the police confiscated a gun and two motorbikes and a military uniform. The case was prepared for court.

So they had the perps hold the shotgun in turns? Why?

I fully expect to see a lot more crime in Cambodia with the economic hardship faced by most. Be safe out there.

Nothing is more incriminating for court and ensures a swift and hard sentence than pictures of the accused holding a shotgun. At least that's the reason I assumed police here always have the suspect hold or point at whatever thing makes them look most guilty.
Do you think the parents of baby boomers whined so much when the boomers started changing society? And yet the whiney ones like to call young people "snowflakes." Hmm...

I’d be surprised if the judge doesn’t send them to Prey Sar for a long time. Cambodia is a land of relatively non-violent crimes. Armed robbery, shootings, etc., are high profile.

Seriously? Don't they have a prison in Siem Reap as well?
