Burglar Beaten Unconscious By Angry Victims and Neighbors
Cambodia News, Kandal: A suspect was arrested by Ponhea Leu district police on charges of attempted burglary at a resident's property at 19:53 pm, 17 April 2020, in the village of Poum Mongkol, Ponhea Leu District, Kandal Province.
The Ponhea Leu district police officer said that the suspect was named as Khine Khao, a 16-year-old Cambodian national. The burglar is said to have climbed up a tree and over a wall, and then entered the house through the kitchen door.
The victim, Sarin Chanthoeun, a 42-year-old business woman, came in and saw the thief, who then ran across the roof and jumped down into a clump of bamboo in an attempt to escape. However, the suspect was stunned from the 3.5m fall, and the homeowners and their neighbors found him lying there and beat him unconscious.
Then the police were called and the suspect was taken to Ponhea Leu Referral Hospital for treatment. When he recovered consciousness about an hour later, the suspect confessed that he had broken into the house with the intention of stealing.
