For Khmer language learners (alphabet)

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

For Khmer language learners (alphabet)

Post by pm.riviere »

Ever since I started to read Khmer many aeons ago, I never managed to google myself a satisfying alphabet to refer to. So I've just drafted my own and hope it can serve you well too. If anything is missing tell me and I'll add if relevant.

Features:
• Common UN system transcription
• Regular/ Non-round style (Khmer has "bold" and "regular" glyphs, both look quite different)
• Notation of a-series and o-series vowels
• Includes independent vowels (very rare glyphs found in very common words such as "or" / "go" / "you" )
• Includes supplementary consonants (g, z, f, etc.)
• Includes colored consonants subscripts
• Includes main diacritics segregated for consonants and vowels
• Indicates dedicated computer key for each glyph
• Error-free! (Legacy glyph ordering, etc.)
