Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News, Koh Kong: A group of Chinese workers who arrived at Phnom Penh Airport from Hubei, China, on 13 April 2020, then left the capital city directly and travelled to Koh Kong by car. The Cambodian authorities have forbidden all non-essential traffic from one province to another over the Khmer New Year period.

The group of eight Chinese nationals, who departed immediately from Phnom Penh to the Tatai Hydropower Company in Koh Kong by car, have been detained for coronavirus testing, along with their Cambodian driver. They were tracked down by the Emergency Response Team of the Communicable Diseases Department of Koh Kong province, with the aid of the Tatai Hydropower Company.

Eight Chinese hydrodam workers quarantined in Koh Kong

Local authorities have rounded up eight Chinese hydropower workers and a Cambodian driver and placed them under a 14-day quarantine in Koh Kong province for fear of Coronavirus pandemic, an official said.

Tov Moeng, director of Koh Kong provincial health department, said that Chinese men arrived at the Phnom Penh International Airport on April 13 and then travelled by a minivan to Tatai electrical Hydropower dam in Koh Kong district’s Tatay commune.

Those men are from Hubei province, China, he said.

“They have been quarantined at a building at Tatay Hydropower dam,” Mr Moeng said, adding that health officials have checked their body temperature but found no symptoms of being infected.
