Cambodia News, Siem Reap: There have been a series of violent attacks on solitary travelers in Siem Reap province these past two weeks, where a man assaulted his victims with a meat cleaver. The incidents began on 5 April, 2020, when a 25-year-old man was attacked in Kork Chak district; the victim received a cut on his arm. Two further attacks followed on 9 April and 11 April, all incidents occurred in the same area during the daytime; all victims were also young men in their twenties.

Colonel Nop Sarak, Siem Reap Metropolitan Police Inspector, issued a stern order to his forces to track down and detain the 'chopper', and at 18:00 on 11 April, police officials arrested a suspect, Nott Sokhet, a 29-year-old male also known as Levi, living at Kvann village, Banteay Srei district, Siem Reap province. After questioning, the suspect admitted to the three attacks. The police confiscated a black 125 motorbike and a meat cleaver as evidence.
