Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)
Re: Information on Coronavirus in Cambodia from 8 March 2020 (Latest Updates)
For those of you blaming the hot and humid climate here in Cambodia as the reason why there are so few corona cases here, have a look at what's happening in Ecuador right now. They're literally dumping bodies in the street because the authorities can't cope. I've never been there but as it's on the equator, I'm guessing it's no less hot and humid as it is here?

Khmer New year celebration cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic
Prime Minister HE said today that he has decided to cancel the Khmer New Year celebrations scheduled for next week in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19 into local communities.
Speaking at a press conference, Mr HE said: “The government decided to cancel the celebrations of the Khmer New Year.”
“The government wants to reduce the travelling of people to prevent the spread of infection from one place to another. This measure is to prevent the people from contracting the virus,” he said.
“The most safe places are at working places,” he said.
He said that the government institutions and private firms, especially garment workers should continue to work as usual, noting that the cancelled three-day holidays will be offset when the COVID-19 is over.
The Khmer New Year celebration starts on Monday and ends on Thursday.

A flight carrying 150 Cambodians from Malaysia banned from entering Phnom Penh amid the virus pandemic
Khuon Narim
Prime Minister HE said today that he decided to ban a flight carrying 150 Cambodians from Malaysia from entering Phnom Penh in a bid to stem the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a press conference in Phnom Penh today, Mr HE said: “150 Cambodians, please stay there [in Malaysia].”
He said that Cambodia has recorded 114 cases of COVID-19 infections, of which 80 were imported.
“We have seen 115 cases, but 80 of them are imported,” he said.
Khmer Times has learned from reliable sources that the flight was a scheduled flight which will still land and depart from Phnom Penh. It is scheduled to carry approximately 117 Malaysians who have either been stranded in Cambodia because of the cancellation of flights or were working here and had tickets to return home.
The incoming flight, MH 754 is supposed to carry Cambodian workers and other Cambodians from Malaysia but was asked to delay their return to after the scheduled Khmer New Year, which is now cancelled. It is also understood that 70 of the passengers due back were fisherman who lost their jobs and whose tickets were paid for by the fishing company which hired them. The status of the other Cambodians supposed to be on the cancelled flight cannot be revealed at this time.

You need to inform yourself better. About 10% of Equador has the same climate as Cambodia. Plus, Equador is in the Southern Hemisphere, Cambodia on the Northern.xandreu wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:00 am For those of you blaming the hot and humid climate here in Cambodia as the reason why there are so few corona cases here, have a look at what's happening in Ecuador right now. Quito is cooler than PP because it is above 9000 feet. Where the bodies are stacking up is at Guayaquil which is about 4 feet above sea level. It gets warm there too, Currently 27C but 32C is average for this time of year and 37C is a record high for March\April. Similar to Cambodia.

No, not similar. Not even the same group (Guayaquil: dry, Phnom Penh: tropical) of climates. Please see for yourself.rexwell wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 12:27 pm Quito is cooler than PP because it is above 9000 feet. You should pick better examples to critisize what others are saying, its 17C in Ecuador and 33C herexandreu wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:00 am For those of you blaming the hot and humid climate here in Cambodia as the reason why there are so few corona cases here, have a look at what's happening in Ecuador right now. With over 10 different climates...
It's always 17C somewhere in Equador....
Note lightest blue is the same climate as most of Cambodia, but inverted seasons because of the position on the Southern Hemisphere.
