Phnom Penh (FN), July 3 - The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), cooperating with the Vietnamese exploration team, found a total of 540 Vietnamese troop’s corpse in Cambodia over the first six months of 2019, according to defense spokesman Chhum Socheat on Wednesday.

The Ministry of National Defense held its first half-day meeting on Wednesday morning to review its performance for the second semester of 2019 under the leadership of minister of national defense Tea Banh.

It is worth noting that the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Vietnamese Government signed an agreement on 28 August 2000 on finding the remains of Vietnamese soldiers’ corpse, which were left during the war in Cambodia.

Việt Nam gives $523,000 to Cambodia for search of remains of Vietnamese soldiers
Update: October, 16/2019 - 07:40

HCM CITY — The Vietnamese Government has given US$523,000 to the Cambodian Government to assist in a joint effort to search, excavate and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fell in the war in Cambodia.
Speaking at the 18th session of the Việt Nam-Cambodia Government Commission yesterday in HCM City, Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieut Gen Lê Chiêm, said the two countries would continue to conduct the search until no information about the burial place of the soldiers can be found.
Chiêm, who is also chairman of the Government Committee of the Government, praised the Cambodian Government and people for their tremendous support in the search for the remains.
Chiêm expressed his confidence in the joint effort, which reflects the solidarity, co-operation and traditional friendship between the two countries.
“The two sides will also encourage people to provide information about martyrs and graves of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who have died in Cambodia,” he said.

Organisations and individuals with outstanding achievements in the search effort will be commended and awarded by specialised committees of the provinces, military regions and administrations at all levels in the two countries.
Documentary films and books in both Vietnamese and Khmer about the process of coordinating the search will also be disseminated by both sides.

That's amazing. I was under the impression that most of these bodies had been repatriated years ago. So many wandering souls.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
