Re: Death
Most people expect doctors to fix their problem with magic powder. The ones that solve the problem by fixing themselves typically don’t go and see a doctor. Why would you see one if you’ve already got the cure?SternAAlbifrons wrote:PS, I always say to the Docs - "I just try to eat well, exercise hard and regularly, and get heaps of sunshine"
They always say - "Oh yeah, that is for sure the best thing for most people".
But not one Dr has ever introduced that idea to me without me first bringing it up.
Except - organic mental illness like schizophrenia. Unsolvable for millennia until drugs came along.

Re: Death
Don't mix up treatments with cures, Nuke. Not the same thing.
(and schizophrenia is not "solvable", just more treatable than it used to be - for some people)
Talk to your Dr about all your health issues, i reckon - weigh up all options and make your own decisions.
Staying away from Drs if you think you have a "cure" is probably not wise if you still have symptoms.
As is self-prescribing strong mind-altering drugs to treat depression (the post i was responding to)
Even if you are (wisely) very suss about modern medicine - ALWays talk to Drs about your health issues. imo

Re: Death
Having a 55 year-old sister who has been diagnosed as a manic depressive schizophrenic for the vast majority of her life, it's been my observation the effectiveness of psychotropics have been improving consistently, offering individuals a far better quality of life. This added to some talented psychiatrists now gives many suffering from such conditions a bearable existence. It's certainly foolhardy not to seek professional help where your mental health is concerned.
