Breaking Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: On the morning of March 30, 2020, Samdech Techo HE, Prime Minister of Cambodia has announced the closure of all casinos across the country from April 01, 2020 to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
However, the Prime Minister confirmed again that the factories will not be closed because this is part of the national economy.

I quote the whole so it can be found together with this information:yongchi wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 7:13 pmDisclaimer: I know very little about this stuff. Just sharing some interesting information I came across when reading more about the combo used in the French study. Dr. Zelenko, an American physician, is treating patients in a Jewish community with the combo Hydroxychloroquine + Azithromycine + Zinc sulfate.
According to his letter to the Israeli ministry of health they have treated 500 patients that way.
Attached to this Tweet appears to be his letter from 3/23/2020 to the Israeli ministry of health (with CC to President Trump):
(I read about the letter elsewhere and then tried to track it down.)
Here is an interesting lecture by Dr. Seheult how that might work:
(As the doc in the video lecture points out the studies were done in vitro and in cell cultures, but interesting to learn about the mechanism nevertheless.)
It may actually be the zinc that inhibits the virus replication but zinc ions need help to get into the cell.
Chloroquine facilitates the entry of the zinc ions.
Again, I am just sharing what I am reading/watching. I don't want to encourage anyone to self medicate!
Dr Richard Roberts (M.D., Ph.D.) was the CEO of a pharmaceutical company that has done substantial research into quinine, a precursor drug of hydroxychloroquine (for other ailments not Covid).
He points out (and explains the mechanics) that there is a significant interaction between hydroxychloroquine + azithromycin which can be dangerous to the heart.
I can't assess the level of risk, but he states that many doctors don't know about this risk.

While he says he doesn't know whether the combination will work against Covid-19 or not, he appears to be (at least somewhat) critical of Dr. Zelenko.
He also shines an interesting light on the workings of the FDA and their aversion to risk. In a word, they don't want to risk their job.
Stay safe and stay healthy.

Looks like trials on those drugs are going to begin in Australia at least: https://www.uq.edu.au/news/article/2020 ... -treatment

Government to approve a state of emergency draft on Friday
RELATED POST: What does it mean when a country declares a state of emergency?
Prime Minister HE said today that the government will convene a special meeting to work on a state of emergency draft on Friday before forwarding it to the National Assembly.
In a press conference in Phnom Penh this morning, Mr HE said that the government needs a law on a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Even though our situation has not yet needed the country to be placed in a state of emergency, we need to prepare it as we cannot downplay it,” he added.
“I would like to call on our people not to be worried too much about this law [state of emergency]. We still prioritise our people’ rights.”
Mr HE reiterated that the government will not close the markets, restaurants and small shops amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Will be interesting to see whether they only test the mentioned malaria drug all by itself or a combination that actually includes zinc as well.clutchcargo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 3:00 pm

What concerns me a bit is that most media outlets seem to be hyping up the "malaria drug" without any further details.
As far as I can see, even that University of Queensland article provides no specifics.
To assess whether it is indeed zinc that does the antiviral work and the malaria drug that facilitates the entry of zinc into the cell, one would hope they have a condition for that combination.

I was wondering what if any strategies or preventative measures have been taken for inmates of prisons like Prey Sar should the virus kick off - release of inmates who've nearly done their time and those waiting trial on minor crimes, for example.
