New Zealand mosques: Several dead after shootings in Christchurch

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Doesn't surprise me in the least bit. 3 days after I arrived back in L.A. from Cambodia, someone in the house across the street from my hotel was shot by an armed robber. Didn't even make the news.

NOBODY needs to own a semi or fully automatic rifle to go target, ( clap pigeons) shooting or to protect his crops.
I am 100% behind the right to own guns in the states or anywhere but.... the need to own something that can fire so many bullets in one minute??????

BTW, many of the guns used in mass shootings are legally obtained ( or in the case of the kids, stolen from their parents which they legally purchased)
Nobody is saying that ur "rights to bear arms" is being infringed upon.
More checks wont make a difference either. They do need to amend the "gun show Loophole"

The world needs to get its shit together.....and learn that killing people is not the solution
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Trial of accused Christchurch gunman trial delayed in New Zealand to avoid Ramadan
Sep 12, 2019

SYDNEY - The trial of a man accused of shootings at two mosques in New Zealand that killed 51 people has been delayed by a month because the original court date coincided with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a judge said on Thursday.

A lone gunman armed with semi-automatic weapons attacked Muslims attending Friday prayers in Christchurch on New Zealand's South Island on March 15, in the country's worst peace-time mass shooting. The attacker broadcast the shooting live on Facebook.

Australian man Brenton Tarrant, 29, a suspected white supremacist, has pleaded not guilty to 92 charges against him including murder and terrorism.

A trial was scheduled to begin on May 4, 2020, but High Court judge Cameron Mander said prosecutors had notified the court that "difficulties have arisen with the trial date because it clashes with the Islamic holy month of Ramadan which occurs over the month of May next year".

^^^ good decision on moving the trial date from Ramadan.
Another good decision announced today also >>>

Firearms register announced as part of Government's second tranche of gun law reforms

It will hold the licence holder's full name, date of birth and address, along with details of their licence number and any endorsements; details of firearms, restricted weapons and prohibited magazines including identifying markings and information on storage; and record all transfers, sales, purchases, imports and exports of firearms and other items. Private sales will still be permitted.

He (many of us Kiwis will not say his name) has just changed his plea to guilty.

NZ allows a maximum 25% discount for a guilty plea.
To get the max other factors are taken into account eg contrition, accepting full responsibility, co-operating with police.

I doubt he will do any of that - but if he does,
what is 25% off "Life without possibility of parole"?
