Beeing poor is not a excuse to drive around in a veichle that put other peoples life in danger.

If you cant afford to fix it, dont drive it.

They sure got money for beer and cigarettes every 2nd day or so. Dont make excuses for them. Its not expensive to repair a bike or change a lightbulb.
i think you have no idea about the level of poverty some people in cambodia live in

$2/day. i suggest you trie living on that an dlet's look at your bike after 3 months

not making excuses just pointing out reality
Speaking of light bulbs.. Some time ago Mrs Cargo and I and a couple of khmer friends went to Kien Svay for lunch on the river there. We went on 2 motos Mrs Cargo and I following the other 2.

So I noticed the lead moto's rear brake light wasn't working and I'm thinking.. 'that's potentially really dangerous'. Later, I got Mrs Cargo to mention this to her friend. Anyway, the feedback wasn't anything like 'oh thanks for bringing that to me attention, I'll get on to it asap' rather...more like.. water off a duck's back. Mrs Cargo later said her friend didn't have any spare money. I noticed too that she got stuck into the food leftovers after everybody else had enough and made the comment that she didn't want to waste food.

Just an anecdote..

Quit believing old bullshit figures fed to you by some anonymous NGO. Even an older/weaker labourer in the countryside makes 20 000r+/day. Many are on $10+. The only people who are on $2/day are truly at the bottom of the totem pole, and they don't own motorbikes in the first place.
