Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Sa Kaeo closes 19 Cambodian border checkpoints – Covid-19

https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/sa-k ... s-covid-19

Just back from Lunch/grocery shopping at JungCeylon in Patong
Empty roads driving in, the mall was the lowest i have seen since post 12/25/2004,(tsunami ) no shops closed but also few people around shopping, no shortages
Beach has few tourists, many of the restaurants along Kamala's beachfront have closed

Expect those here once gone, it will be more empty as cant see any new arrivals wishing to deal with the med certificate and insurance now required to enter.

Still, not a bad place to wait it out :-)

lets get them Chinese back in, we NEED ur $$$

Chinese tourist packing their bags to come back to Thailand
Some groups of Chinese say they’re ready to pack their bags and start travelling again. And, astonishingly, Thai tourism officials say they they’re preparing for a return of Chinese tourists!

Chinese tourists groups say they expect to resume their travels in April as the novel coronavirus (Covid19) infections start to subside in China.

Thai tourism officials say they are aiming to apply more safety and health administration programs to help operators enhance their ability to deal with the pandemic and assuring the safety for tourists.
The Thaiger – Whilst we admire the optimism of the TAT Governor and tourism officials that this will “all be over” by April, the stark reality is the pandemic is still in its very early days and still in a swift growth phase worldwide. There are NO epidemiologists, scientists, or the WHO or US CDC who think that this pandemic will see new cases levelling off any time soon.

I seriously hope some countries will just ban all Chinese from entering their country for a period of at least 2 years. Both leisure and commercial.
I think there will be many many people worldwide which would give preference to a holiday destination that they knew was a Chinese free destination.

The increase of anti-chinese travellers might well exceed the money the Chinese bring in.

They don't spend that much individually, they try to keep as much of their spending in Chinese controlled business' and generally just take take take.

There's just a lot of them. Somethimes less is more.

But countries banning Chinese travelers will feel the wrath of the Chinese, economically. So, no country will take measures against Chinese travelers. That's how dependent the whole world has become on China. The Chinese know it, and will use their economic power against anyone blocking them. Only when the entire world would ban the Chinese, it might work, but the chances of that happening are very close to zero.

That's what makes the whole situation ridiculous. The virus originated in China. Which country will come out the strongest? Probably China, unfortunately.

I think the anti Chinese sentiment will be so strong the Chinese economy will be in big trouble. Who would want to buy their crap after the poisoned the world for a second time in 17 years?

Has anyone heard a word of contrition from China? An statement of regret? An offer to financially compensate anyone?

They are going to arrogantly try to forget it and try to cash in on the carnage. Politically there will be great capital in withdrawing from using China for anything than cheap household crap production.

No more pharma, no more engineering, no more major infrastructure contacts and no more Huawei. No more education should be the first. No more technology transfer. I wouldn't even sell them aircraft, they can't build the engines yet so fuck 'em. Let's keep it that way.

I want to see Xi Jinping on his knees begging for forgiveness and with and enormous amount of cash to compensate.
I want to see him ruthlessly close down those disgusting wet markets with the same gusto and he closes down free speech and dissent.

I want international inspectors to be allowed to roam free to check those markets are closed forever.
After all, Covid-19 in the ultimate weapon of mass destruction and China will make another one unless those backward barbaric fucks are stopped from poisoning us all again.

And I want an international agreement with every country other than China that if anything like this surfaces again, even a suspicion of it, all international flights are grounded that day and China is completely quarantined. No questions, no excuses. Until international inspectors are allowed full access and give the all clear, they stay quarantined.

Europe is on fire and very soon America will be too. The fall out has yet to be fully appreciated.

I read that the Chinese are out and about again and planning to go on holiday? I think not.

I think it's time for China to feel the collective wrath of the world.

Seriously, who cares? What do we need from China in the rest of the world?

Police state?

No personal liberty?

Virusses?

No thanks, the rest of the world should just tell China to live on their own. No Travel, No trade. We don't need you.
