Hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin as a treatment of COVID-19: results of an openlabel non-randomized clinical trial
Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have been found to be efficient on SARS-CoV-2, and reported to be efficient in Chinese COV-19 patients. We evaluate the role of hydroxychloroquine on respiratory viral loads.
Twenty cases were treated in this study and showed a significant reduction of the viral carriage at D6-post inclusion compared to controls, and much lower average carrying duration than reported of untreated patients in the literature. Azithromycin added to hydroxychloroquine was significantly more efficient for virus elimination.
Despite its small sample size our survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin.

Indeed there seems to be some validity in exploring this further ^^^
However, A cautionary note - and a reality check.
"As a simple pill, chloroquine could prevent some COVID-19 patients from worsening to the point of needing hospitalisation.
Researchers also plan to test chloroquine to see whether it can help prevent healthcare workers from getting the virus in the first place.
The drug can have serious side effects, such as damage to the eyes. It can also cause headaches, dizziness, and stomach problems ranging from discomfort to vomiting and diarrhoea.
For both remdesivir and chloroquine, there is no peer-reviewed clinical data about whether they work to halt COVID-19. Seedhouse said that even in the face of a pandemic, it is essential to stick to evidence-based approaches.
“All we have is some preclinical rationale and some mechanistic rationale, but no hard randomised clinical data yet,” Seedhouse said. “I think it’s appropriate to be cautious on chloroquine and anything else.”
The French ministry of health has called the study ^^^ fake news.
but there seems to be enough evidence for a number of researchers/clinicians in a number of different countries to be looking at this seriously.

High risk individuals who contract the virus may consider those side effects preferable to the alternative.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 8:25 am

But yes, early days with much prodding and poking to be done.

According to Fresh News Asia, a religious mass gathering in Indonesia has been cancelled, but thousands were already there. I hope the authorities can screen people who are returning from there, if any:
“The pilgrims already there would be isolated while they make arrangements to leave Gowa, he added. More than 8,500 people from across Indonesia, Asia and the Middle East had converged on the area.
After resisting the closure of the event and defiantly stating “we are more afraid of God” than the coronavirus on Wednesday, organiser Mustari Bahranuddin said he would follow the directive to cancel the prayer rally.
But he said it would be difficult to quickly disperse the crowd, many of whom had arrived by ferry.
“We need a process to send the participants home,” he told Reuters on Thursday. “The ship has it’s own schedule.””

I think we all going through a grieving process!!
We still in shock. We must be gentle on ourselves.
I think this why people rushed out and bought toilet rolls. Trying to get some control over chaos.

Non-Australians Banned from Entering Australia
Australia closes the border: Non-residents are banned from entering the country from 9pm tomorrow - as PM says 80 per cent of virus cases were brought in from overseas
The Prime Minister has taken the drastic action of shutting the country's border
From 9pm on Friday, only residents and citizens will be allowed to enter country
Australians will be allowed to enter but will have to be in quarantine for 14 days
80 per cent of Australia's 636 coronavirus cases have come in from abroad
The Prime Minister has closed Australia's borders to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
From 9pm on Friday night, only Australian permanent residents and citizens will be allowed to enter the country.
Scott Morrison said he made the drastic move because 80 per cent of Australia's 636 coronavirus cases have come in from abroad.
The ban, which has no end date, is likely to cause chaos for thousands of temporary residents who live and work in Australia, such as people on skilled work visas.
If they are overseas on holiday they have one day to return to their lives here. If they are in the country they cannot leave because they will not be able to come back.

Meanwhile, in Baltimore
"The leader of Baltimore, Maryland, urged gang members to stop shooting each other, saying hospital beds are needed to treat coronavirus patients.
Following a spate of shootings on Tuesday night, Mayor Jack Young said: "We cannot clog up our hospitals and their beds with people that are being shot senselessly because we're going to need those beds for people infected with the coronavirus.
"And it could be your mother, your grandmother or one of your relatives. So take that into consideration."
Priorities people, you can always shoot that guy later
You couldn't make this shit up (sorry bout the gutter language, it seemed apropos)
