Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Dear sir. Please give us your IMEI address so I know where you are and can be as far away from you as possible.

You either have coronavirus and are an asymptotic carrier or will get it soon.

Also kindly name girls you have slept with in the last few weeks as well, so they can be avoided too. Heck, name which bars you went to so they can be avoided as well.

I have no desire to be quarantined for 2 weeks without pay.

Haha. Half the world is carrying it already, if it’s as contagious as WHO claims. You are three months too late to retreat to a bunker. You probably have this virus already or have had it but didn’t notice. Have you done a test recently?

Friend of mine was due to fly back to the UK with Eva today and they cancelled his flight a couple of days ago. He went down to Jomtien immigration and they gave him an extra 30 days extension as his visa stay was expiring. Good to see some common sense applied by the often criticised immigration service.

FYI
to enter Thailand ( today)

This is until Thailand reaches stage 3, than the country will shut down ( as Laos an Malaysia already have).
The reminder for travellers issued by Public Health Minister Anutin explained the requirements of all travellers arriving from the designated “Disease Infected Zones” – China (including Macau and Hong Kong), South Korea, Italy and Iran – as well as travellers from the Ongoing Local Transmission Areas:

France, Spain, the United States of America, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, specific cities in Japan, and Germany in order to enter the country. (See full list of requirements below.)

Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) Director-General Chula Sukmanop yesterday also issued guidelines for airlines to not let people on planes coming to Thailand unless they have medical certificate and US$100k medical insurance.

The People’s Republic of China (including Special Administrative Regions Macau and Hong Kong), Republic of Korea, Republic of Italy, and the Islamic Republic of Iran are defined as the Disease Infected Zones (as of Mar 5.)

1. Before check-in at the airport of origin, travellers must show the documents to the airlines including:

• Health certification describing “No evidence of COVID-19 infection in the previous 48 hours and no signs of sickness in the 14 days prior to the departure date.

• Health insurance (in an amount of US$ 100,000 that should cover all expenditures of medical treatment while travelling abroad.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

How to close your borders when you’re not actually closing your borders. The Thai PM has made travelling to Thailand difficult, if not impossible, for many in his latest ‘clarification’.
In an apparent contradiction of the a notice posted by Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) yesterday, PM Prayut Chan-o-cha announced that all air travellers, both Thai and foreign, must now present a health certificate proving they free of the Covid-19 coronavirus, and proof of insurance covering any local treatment for the virus, before being allowed to check in for a flight or journey to Thailand.

The PM did not specify when or how the measure, slammed by many as impractical, will be implemented. Doctors in many countries, including Thailand, generally don’t provide coronavirus tests to those who do not show symptoms. Nor did he specify whether the conditions would apply to travellers entering by land

When asked whether the measure would effectively close Thai borders, Prayut snapped that he did not imply that.

“Why do I have to translate my words into Thai again? I just mentioned that foreigners entering into Thailand must present their health certificates.”

More border closures in fight against virus
Maximum of one land checkpoint per border province will be allowed to remain open
published : 20 Mar 2020 at 20:23
The Interior Ministry has ordered most border provinces to leave only one international checkpoint open as the country tries to block arrivals to contain the coronavirus outbreak that has caused a sharp jump in cases this week.

Key checkpoints to temporary shut are the first Thai-Mayanmar Friendship Bridge in Tak, which will be closed until further notice. The Phu Nam Ron and Three Pagodas passes linking Kanchanaburi and Myanmar will be shut from Saturday to April 3. On the eastern front, Ban Khao Din in Sa Kaeo, opposite Cambodia, which will be closed from Monday to April 5.

Checkpoints with Malaysia were already closed for all intents and purposes after the Malaysian government locked down the country for two weeks from last Monday. Malaysia has reported 900 Covid-19 cases, the most in Southeast Asia.

Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda on Friday ordered governors of border provinces to consider closing all temporary passes and keeping only one main checkpoint in each province open. The exception will be Chiang Rai as it borders on Myanmar and Laos and will be allowed to maintain one checkpoint for each country.

Gen Anupong has given the governors full authority to seal off their provinces by shutting all checkpoints if they consider the Covid-19 situation has worsened in their areas.

Convenience stores remained open and brave food vendors rolled out looking for customers. Sex workers – mostly transvestites – lurked in the dark shadows that draped Walking Street’s side sois, leaving even 20-year residents feeling more uneasy than they could recall. The vibe was palpably tense, with an emotional mix of sadness, anger and dread over what the uncertain future holds.
