Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

At the moment it's only limited to those that have brought it with them and their close contacts same as many other countries
The problem being then it spreads as these people don't isolate themselves,

.....The effort was seen as another mechanism to make Cambodia a safer tourist destination and further build confidence among those visiting the country.
How does that make a visitor feel safer? Rather than the stupid card they should give you something like Singapore does and explains the virus and what you should do
Is Camboida equipped if 100,300,1,000 people go see a doctor ( what dr, where?) if someone calls 115 ( hey somebody in Cambodia call the number and report back) are there english speakers answering the phone?

and i love how they shift the blame and say "...you MAY have been infected BEFORE you arrived in Cambodia".

Note; you did NOT get it here

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

You are not supposed to go see a doctor or to go to the hospital, where you risk spreading the virus and infecting vulnerable people. The advice is the same globally - if you think you are sick, don't go to work, stay home, drink plenty of fluids, get food delivered, and try to avoid infecting other people. Oh, and wash your hands.

Suddenly the world is full of fully trained medical professionals, passing on medical opinion and advice as if they've placed the letters D and R in front of their names.

There is so much contradiction and uncertainty already within the medical profession, without armchair doctors adding to it. The fact is that when ordinary, untrained people pass on medical advice and opinion, they are simply passing on something they 'have read somewhere' that fits with their own narrative. It does not make it true. Similarly, it does not make it false either. For every medical 'fact' that people pass on, it is just as easy to google something which contradicts it.

My philosophy, at the moment, is to just carry on. Business as usual. There is nothing you can do to prevent yourself from getting it, aside from locking yourself in a room for 3 months and having absolutely no contact with the outside world whatsoever. And who is going to do that?

Take sensible precautions, wash your hands, avoid touching your face and other people.

Then keep calm and carry on.

I guess if you're in your early 20's, healthy without kids you don't care about it at all.

On the other hand, if you're in your late 70's babysitting your grandchildren three times a week, and those kids still attend school and all kind of social activities you're on the other end of the scale.

Then add: this is more than just a medical crisis. We're on the verge of an economic crisis as well. That one will probably effect even more then the actually sick. Businesses go bust, pensions will be cut, and the globalization and 'JIT' will be reconsidered. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of the USD as world reserve currency.
