Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

With all respect, I see this a little differently. Countries need to make a concerted effort to contain this; pretending everything is just hunky-dory is not going to cut it.

Containing a flu by shutting down world economy and causing a mass die-off for economic reasons. This is how i see it.

the time to contain it is long gone
lockdown and quarantine made sense while the virus was only in wuhan, or in small pockets elsewhere
now, it's about reducing the damage done, impact on health systems etc

locking down an entire country under martial-type law is insane
invoking churchill is laughable
they should have instead invoked mussolini

The world is way too overpopulated and humans are using too much of Earths resources , it cannot continue at a ever increasing rate ,so has to stop sooner or later. Would you prefer to have a virus or major catastrophe on Earth now or wait till the population is double what it is now, and killing off an even bigger population.

The system we have in place now of companies and businesses getting bigger and bigger , people wanting more and more is a system doomed for failure somewhere in the future.

I look back at the changes in life in my [ nearly ] 73 years and shudder to think of what life will be like in another 70 to 100 years.

God, keep those Pearly White Gates OPEN.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

define contain
i think what they now mean is to keep it under control, slow it down, etc
if they'd contained it, it would still only be in wuhan, with international cases stamped out
perhaps the objective is to 'contain' it in china, europe, middle-east, etc

Kasikorn Bank stops all foreign money exchanging nationwide in Thailand due to Covid19 fears

One of Thailand’s largest banks has announced they have shut all their in branch and foreign exchange booths effective immediately.

The surprise move from Kasikorn or K-Bank came in a directive issued from 5 pm yesterday and is because of the Covid-19 outbreak.

There was no timetable about the closure.

In addition all staff who had been working in their exchange booths nationwide have been put on a 14 day stay-at-home quarantine.

In a letter they said that entities such as the health ministry, bank of Thailand, airports authority and duty free giant King Power had been informed of the decision.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
