TOP NEWS: Health Minister Says a 38-year-old Cambodian Infected with Covid-19, Transmitted from the Japanese Man

Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 7 – Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bun Heng confirmed Saturday that Cambodia has a new case of Covid-19, found on a 38-year-old Cambodian man.

The minister said at the press conference on Saturday evening at the Ministry of Health.

The new case was found after the Ministry of Health quarantined four people in Siem Reap province who had been in contacts with the Japanese man infected with Covid-19. The other three were tested negative.

On 4 March, a Japanese man at his 40s was tested positive with Covid-19 up on arrival in Japan after taking flight from Siem Reap province in Cambodia via Vietnam, reported Kyodo News.

He finally admits the virus is in Cambodia and promptly shuts down the schools;

Prime Minister HE has ordered all schools in Siem Reap town closed with immediate effect.

He also ordered the cancellation of the Angkor Sangkran festival planned in conjunction with Khmer New Year in mid-April.

This comes after Minister of Health Mam Bun Heng confirmed that a 38-year-old Cambodian man tested positive for Covid19.

The victim had direct contact with the 40-year-old Japanese man who had contracted the virus earlier this week.
