1 new death in Iran: a 71-year-old senior Iranian official, Seyyed Mohammad Mirmohammadi , who was a member of the sixth and seventh Iranian parliaments and was appointed in 2017 by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei as a member of the Expediency Discernment Council.
Clock could be ticking for Ayatollah Khamenei, age 80. Two of his deputies caught the virus, and now one has died of it. Nature's regime change?

Seriously, I'm inclined to believe that coronavirus cases in Cambodia will only be officially reported, either 1/ when someone dies and they can't cover it up , or 2/ when there is a big outbreak that can't be covered up.
Whatever, be prepared for some "fresh news" from the authorities. It will be downplayed, and of course the Cambodian health system is ready in case of a pandemic. ;-)
Personally, unless you plan to leave the country, I don't see the point of panicking. We know the health system here is shite and should be prepared to take care of ourselves.
Heart failure would be the headline (even so not a lie). But that's why most countries say if you travel from Cambodia you must self isolate for 14 days.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

strange Cambodia
as other countries shut their borders, close their schools, shut down public transport and prohibit mass gatherings, ( the Lourve in Paris is closed , the moto gp in Buri Ram,Thailand is cancelled) etc etc

Cambodia goes ahead with

Golden Dragon to commence

Image
Defence Minister General Tea Banh yesterday said the annual joint military exercise with China, dubbed “Golden Dragon”, will not be postponed or cancelled amid coronavirus fears.

“The Golden Dragon will start as normal,” Gen Banh said yesterday during a ceremony to hand surgical masks and protective suits to the Chinese Ambassador Wang Wentian. “Other cooperation initiatives between Cambodia and China have not been postponed or cancelled.”

Gen Banh added that despite fears of an outbreak, Cambodia and China will continue to expand defence cooperation.
....
Maj Gen Solimo said 2,200 military personnel from both sides will descend upon a 1,000-hectare field in Kampot province’s Chum Kiri district to participate in the exercise.

He said the Kingdom will deploy eight helicopters, 44 tanks and armoured personnel carriers and nine artillery guns.

Every day 10 to 15 flights from China and at least one from Korea fly in, and you really think another 120 or so military guys from China are going to make a difference?

There are three options I guess. Shit must be hitting the fan in Cambodia already without anyone noticing, Cambodia is extremely good at covering up thousands of cases, or there's a special condition making the tropics nearly invulnerable for this virus <edit>in this season</edit>.

ECDC assessment of the COVID-19 situation in Europe as of 2 March 2020
News
2 Mar 2020
The European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention ECDC today publishes a rapid risk assessment on the novel coronavirus situation in Europe.

The risk of widespread sustained transmission of COVID-19 in EU/EEA and UK in the coming weeks is moderate to high, with more countries expected to report more cases and clusters. This assessment is based on the following factors:

There is an increasing number of countries with widespread community transmission around the world and in Europe, and these are exporting cases with subsequent transmission to previously unaffected areas. Up to now, the control measures have been able to only slow, but not stop further spread;
Cases with mild symptoms are numerous and able to transmit the infection. Cases with mild symptoms are not always aware of their potential infectivity, and some people with mild symptoms have sought medical care, thereby infecting health care workers;
Previously unaffected areas are reporting cases with no history of travel to countries or areas where there is known community transmission.

What is new in this risk assessment?

Updated epidemiological data;
Description of cases and transmission reported in the EU/EEA and the UK;
Findings on disease and transmissibility;
Risk to the healthcare systems in the EU/EEA and the UK;
Risk to citizens from the EU/EEA and UK travelling or living in areas with presumed community transmission;
Risk of widespread and sustained transmission in the EU/EEA and UK in the coming weeks;
Options for preparedness and response; including a proposed change in case definition.

In the event of established and widespread community transmission, current containment measures may no longer be an efficient use of resources. If this occurs, action should be taken to prepare for a mitigation strategy that includes co-ordinated efforts to protect the health of EU/EEA and UK citizens by decreasing the burden on healthcare systems and protecting populations at risk of severe disease.

A significant increase in COVID-19 cases in the coming weeks would have a high impact on public health and on healthcare systems. Increasing numbers of imported cases and local transmission chains would require additional resources for case management, surveillance, and contact tracing.

Risk communication to the public and to healthcare professionals would tie up further resources. Further increased transmission could result in a significant increase of hospital admissions at a time when healthcare systems may already be under pressure from the current influenza season. This situation would be further exacerbated if substantial numbers of healthcare workers became infected. Bottlenecks may also emerge in terms of diagnostic capacity. Containment measures intended to slow down the spread of the virus in the population are therefore extremely important.

Epidemiological data as of 2 March 2020
Total number of reported cases: 89,068 globally (2,199 in the EU/EEA, UK, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland)
Total number of deaths: 3,046 globally (38 in the EU/EEA, UK, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland)

I'm still surprised the Cobra Gold military exercise went ahead in Thailand, any restrictions here up until now with the exception of the Moto GP seem to have been by individual entities, organisations or foreign governments and not the government. The Thai FA announced yesterday games will be played behind closed doors during March, unlike the more common sense approach of Japan and Korea to suspend games for the time being. In common with Cambodia Thailand appears desperate not to offend its Chinese masters.

For the record, the only stats that I believe are coming out of South Korea and Singapore at this time. The latest stats out of South Korea on March 4, 2020 are 4,335 cases with 28 deaths. That's a mortality rate of 1.55% South Korea has been on top of this from the beginning and has a very good health care system. China on the other hand has ORDERED the destruction of all Covid19 records. We will never know the true nature of the devastation in China.

Do you have a link to which countries say that ? I need to travel soon, and don't see how I will get to where I'm going from the airport without interaction with the general public at the other end. It's all very well to say "self-isolate", but unless you get put in quarantine at the airport, I don't see how you can travel and self-isolate at the same time.
How many western taxi drivers are going to take a passenger with a mask who says they are self-isolating because they have arrived from a suspect country ? So, IMO, most travellers will just carry on as usual, and say nothing, unless they are really sick. And some of them will be contagious without knowing.
