Illegal Tanker Ship Apprehended in Cambodian Waters
Cambodia News, Sihanoukville: Local news PNN reported that Cambodia authorities apprehended a foreign tanker that was navigating in Cambodian waters between Sihanoukville and Koh Kong without permission.
This operation was carried out by the water border police in the evening on February 29, 2020 and in the morning on March 1, 2020. The ship was taken into Sihanoukville port for inspection by Cambodian maritime authorities.

Illegal Vietnamese fishing boats also usually fly Cambodian flags. Although I’m not saying it’s Vietnamese.

UPDATE: The vessel has been identified as the MT-COURAGEOUS, a cargo ship registered in Cameroon, and charged with breaking sanctions and illegally trading with North Korea.
Preah Sihanouk province, Cambodia News: According to the Cambodian police website, the MT-COURAGEOUS, which is registered in Cameroon, is in violation of sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) decreed by the United Nations Security Council (Resolutions 2375 and 2397 adopted September 2017).
The vessel was ordered to leave Kao Hsiung, port of Taiwan, on February 15 2020. It was apprehended as it was illegally anchored in Cambodian waters between Koh Tang and Polovai Island, on 27 February 2020. On the morning of March 1, 2020, the ship was brought by the police into the port in Sihanoukville.
There are 16 crew members aboard, Indonesian and Burmese nationals, who will be dealt with by the Department of Immigration after police questioning.
Currently, the MT-COURAGEOUS is being detained by the coast guard, and the case has been sent to the prosecutor of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court for further proceedings and action.

UPDATE: According to this report, the tanker is owned by a Chinese company, NEW EASTERN SHIPPING CO LTD, China, which raises a few questions about whether the vessel just happened to be in Cambodian waters when it was "found" by the authorities.
