“I am a bad English teacher”

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

There's one very clear and simple rule which applies in every classroom all the time:

no criticizing the teacher during class. You simply do what you're told. No power games allowed whatsoever.

If you have stuff to discuss with the teacher, there are other times for that.
In one classroom there will be 20-30 students, and it's a waste of time to pay any attention to students complaining during class.

Maybe your missus doesn't know and you should tell her about these basic rules.

If she would try that kind of shit with me she would be in another class the next lesson.

Over half the required exam assignments had answer attachments that had to be sent back that never made it, despite confirmation messages that it did. And the teacher didn’t even bother to let her know that it didn’t work. And the exam covered topics never mentioned in class or on the syllabus.

She usually scores 90s-80s, and now nuclear bomb.

She just wants it to be over and out of his class. Her spirit was beyond crushed.
At a guess, for that section the teacher asked the students to write the answers in CAPITAL LETTERS ? Is that something a teacher would do ? Then the "missus" wrote the answers all in small letters, which is not what was asked, so he failed her.

It looks like a test via a system such as BlackBoard or similar, where the answers are automated and not usually set by the instructor but by the language school or university. For me it's a simple mistake made by the person who set up the test. I don't think it is intentionally vindictive.

Don't think it was the teacher, unless he was a very bad teacher,

Ensuring quality and fairness
IELTS is recognised and trusted by individuals and organisations worldwide for its fairness, reliability and high quality standards
Fair to test takers
The IELTS approach is recognised as being fair to all test takers, whatever their nationality, cultural background, gender or special needs. Test takers can feel confident that the IELTS test:
provides a valid and accurate assessment of the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking
assesses language skills, not specialist knowledge; the topics covered are general enough for all test takers will be able to answer questions on them
is focused on assessing practical communication ability
serves both academic and non-academic purposes through a choice of two versions
features a one-on-one, face-to-face speaking component
recognises all standard varieties of native-speaker English, including North American and British
ensures test questions are extensively trialled with people from different cultures to confirm they are appropriate and fair.

TeachingForPeanuts wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2020 3:23 am NKOTB has been complaining about all of his wife's teachers, for years. The theme is usually "My wife is smarter than the other students” “My wife is smarter than her teacher" and "My wife has to tell the teacher how to do his job and how to help other students learn.”

I'm concerned he is setting his wife up for failure in life by encouraging her to have this "I'm better than you and let me show you why" attitude towards teachers, doctors, authority figures, co-workers etc. If she is making such a nuisance of herself that her teacher says she ruins his day and then retaliates by failing her, then she is doing something very wrong.

but you seriously have either
WAY to much time on ur hands
or an
unhealthy fascination with NKOTB

:stir:
( who i agree, complains way to much about things concerning his wife)
It doesn't take long to find posts relating to a certain subject if you know how to use the search function, and because NKOTB is insufferable whinger, it's easy to find loads of posts of him moaning on and on.
If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

It doesn't seem to be working out too well. These long distance relationships are tricky. How do you know she's even attending classes? Don't get caught by the short and curlies.

She records the classes for him on her phone so he can monitor the quality of teaching.

One golden rule I learnt was "you have to be here".
