Car insurance required here?

Anyone know? Is proof of insurance required when registering a car?

I registered a bike without insurance. Assuming you might use the same registration office, then I guess not. It's a wild supposition though...

Cambodia is the only ASEAN country to not require compulsory insurance for private vehicles.

It is mandatory for commercial vehicles.

Plans for a Law to address this issue were announced in June 2019.

No time-frame was given.

There is a thread on here covering the announcement

CHAPTER III Compulsory Insurance SECTION I Motor Vehicle Third Party Liability InsuranceArticle : The physical or legal person that own and operates commercial Motor vehicle for fare in the Kingdom of Cambodia shall have to buy insurance from an insurance company for liability against loss or damage to third party arising out of the Motor vehicle operation, including all type of trailers.
This insurance valid not only to the Motor vehicle owner but to the driver and the caretaker as well
