The PM should be lauded for his action.

This has been on the action agenda ever since President Obama's visit in 2012 as a part of the ASEAN summit. Subsequent ambassadors, envoys and political administrations both from the US and EU have made this issue a top priority for the region.

HE risked political capital by potentially appearing to kowtow to western pressure regarding this issue.

But the urgent nature and potential for a societal unraveling if left unchecked led HE to act now lest further irrevocable damage be done to the sacred mores and deeply ingrained cultural norms which have been fostered and nurtured in Cambodia for millennia.

So again, I say bravo and not a moment too soon.

This was a bold step and a recognition of the dire impact that activities such as this could have, not only on Cambodia but neighboring regions and dare I say ASEAN as a whole.

It is refreshing to see a country's leadership set and align their priorities so well and with such great foresight for the betterment of all its citizenry and the Country as a whole.

Bold and brave leadership, huzzah!
