First New Cardamom Road Ready

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

First New Cardamom Road Ready

Post by phuketrichard »

Looks like a nice trip..

Koh Kong: Officials will inaugurate National Road 55 in Thmor Dam, Pursat province, in March. There will also soon be the opening of National Road 10 linking Samlot, Battambang to Koh Kong.

National Road 55 was built under a concession financing from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, with a total contribution of $ 132.80 million to the Royal Government of Cambodia.

The total road length is 180 km, 9 meters wide and 45 bridges. It runs from National Road No 5 (191 + 150) through the Cardamom Mountains – Veal Veng-Thmor District, Pursat Province (along the Cambodia-Thailand Border with Trat Province).

They could name each bend with a sign depicting recently extinct animals of the area.

Yep ^^ but more of a worry
- those that are at high risk of going extinct 5 minutes after the road opens up their habitat.

In fact, extinctions are not that common in Cambodia recently, and we are actually the last hold-out for a number of animals and birds that have disappeared everywhere else.

But they are nearly all on the edge.
This is what Cambodia specialises in, seriously, critically endangered species.
We will save some.

Sadly I don't share your optimism.

My optimism is not uninformed
nor un-sceptical
nor un-questioned by myself at 2am every second morning when i wake up in a sweat
just my assessment - being as hard-core realist as i can
-some

chuckle
the elusive Kting Voar for example
the snake eating cow
Cambodia's unicorn
it's out there somewhere...
belly chuckle

Looks like they cut down as many trees as possible around the road construction. The bare hillside will probably end up on the road with the first heavy rains.

It's a beauty.

Need to crank up the big bike and get down there before it's F.U.B.A.R'd, run those curves.
