Internet speed in Cambodia/ Phnom penh area

Post by John-68 »

Good Morning.

As i mentioned earlier,i`m travelling to Cambodia and first week will be at PP,due to many different news from several links i am not sure if it will be a good idea to bring my lap top with me!!!As i read the general speed in PP is not very high(as other places in Cambodia too) so i`ll better leave my device at home, question is if i do so how is the usage of internet over there? many guest reviews says that is helpless to open even a page so long you can read a news paper to the end!!!!

I\ll appreciate it if some one can give me advice in this regards based to reality and not just what he or she think it could be bla bla...

Regards.
John

Internet speeds are better than in some developed countries John, but it's a bit of a crap shoot getting the right provider in the right area.

Internet is so slow that everyone on this forum actually has to send each post via the Post Office.

Even this post was sent 5 days ago.

:Yahoo!:

btw, why do you say "As I mentioned earlier" when it's your first post? Do you have another handle?

Bring your laptop. email, facebook, general browsing will usually be acceptable. Streaming, skype, video conferencing, low-latency financial stuff will probably disappoint. But it'll probably be faster than New Zealand and cheaper than Thailand.

Oddly, Steam works better for me here than it did in Oz.

It's all relevant to altitude. As most of Cambodia is below sea level the boiling point of water is higher than in Australia...

On a more related note, what ever happened to the steam operating system?
