1 Injured as US Embassy Vehicle Gets Hit by Falling Crane

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: At around 8AM on February 04, 2020, a construction crane broke, and a piece of the crane fell on a US Embassy vehicle which was passing by on the new road in Village 14, Tonle Bassac, Phnom Penh Chamkarmon.

An injured female officer of the US embassy was taken to hospital.

Subsequently, local authorities arrived at the accident scene and took the crane driver and the construction site manager away for questioning at the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Headquarters in order to take legal action. Both men detained are Chinese nationals.

Would there be department that inspects and tests these cranes after they are assembled and before they can start operating.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I always found it unnerving the construction situation in Cambodia, a huge amount of construction sites coupled with lack of proper standards and oversight is a recipe for disaster.

The amount of accidents due to falling equipment and debris has actually been less than I thought it would. I wonder how many accidents where employees get hurt are covered up, if any.

Yes, that would be the Department of Urban Planning, which is part of the Ministry of Brown Envelopes. 8)
