Saw in the paper today that Gough had passed away.
RIP Gough.

Everyone raise your drinks in a toast to Gough, and say out loud, "Fu' Gough".Joker Poker wrote:Saw in the paper today that Gough had passed away.

Gough Whitlam watching Bob Hawk set a new word record for sculling a yard of ale in 11 seconds at Oxford 1953.Username Taken wrote:Everyone raise your drinks in a toast to Gough, and say out loud, "Fu' Gough".Joker Poker wrote:Saw in the paper today that Gough had passed away.

At least those guys had some character. Look at the ones since Howard - Rudd, Gillard and Abbott. I'm glad I live here most of the time.

Regardless of party, Australia needs another Howard to pull it out of the sewer, and then another Hawke to spend the war chest on infrastructure.

I'm afraid that might be right. I've only spent 8 weeks there in the last 3.5 years so I've really lost touch now. The face of the country has changed so much since I was a kid but so much in the last 10 years, I've kinda given up on it now.StroppyChops wrote:Regardless of party, Australia needs another Howard to pull it out of the sewer, and then another Hawke to spend the war chest on infrastructure.
