Unrestricted flights from China still and Wuhan in particular at the start.

Rumour is that testing costs $400, since there is no treatment, what is the point in being diagnosed at the equivalent cost of over 3 months wages for most people?

The big man is in denial, worried about losing the Chinese tourism $$$$, and is downplaying the virus.

IMHO, this will break out real bad within 8 weeks in Cambodia.
I know of at least one case in Kampot and now one out in a Prey Veng village, so there will be many more cases nationwide.
Please corroborate the information regarding the kampong, prey veng cases.
What is known about them? Is the source somewhat reliable?

The source is me,the one in kampot i know of missed out on the fever symptoms but now has the dry cough,the one who travelled to prey veng has had the fever part (very high temperature last night) and now has the dry cough,the next symptom is shortness of breath which i am praying does not happen.No tests have been done and both are unwilling to go to hospital for some reason...................

Regarding the kampong Cham (Originally Bavet) case it seems to have been only TB which since the patient was Chinese looked like coronavirus on CT scans.

Was your quote, being that of a tad of sarcasm? Also, TB being on the top ten list of the worlds illnesses that could kill you, that most will forget about even though its been around a long time. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious illness caused by the airborne bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Makes the Coronavirus a little bit lower key when you start to compare figures, is the new killer virus actually being blown out of proportion?

Aeroplane passengers who flew from Wuhan, China to Batam, Indonesia were sprayed with a substance when they disembarked.

When they disembark, individuals wearing yellow hazmat suits and backpacks with the word “ALKOHOL” inscribed on them briefly spray each passenger with a clear mist. It’s not immediately clear what the passengers were being sprayed with, though Alkohol translates to Alcohol. A caption on photos of the spray from Reuters, also posted on February 2, taken by Indonesia-based Antara Foto, refers to it as an “antiseptic.”

China’s National Health Commission (NHC), together with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security, issued new regulations Saturday stating that all victims who succumb to the virus must be cremated at the nearest facility. “No farewell ceremonies or other funeral activities involving the corpse shall be held,” the NHC announcement reads.

The Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has now spread to 27 countries and territories worldwide. There are 17,387 confirmed cases and 362 deaths as of this morning.

by the way this is heading,will surpase the number of deaths from Sars

TB is curable.
The issue with this coronavirus is mostly the R0 (infectivity rate) which is extremely high and the 20% hospitalization requirement.
It overwhelms health care systems very fast.
If ICU beds aren't available the death rate will jump considerably as of the 20% of cases that develop lung inflammation 45% would die without proper ICU treatment and only 16% with perfect ICU treatment. (So between 2-3% and almost 10% death rate depending if the ICU beds are available).

I bet you 100.000 in two weeks, 1.000.000 in May, probably earlier.

Transmission rate is estimated an average of 4 now. With 17.000 cases at the moment that means on average another 68.000 cases in a week or so. And 250.000 more in two weeks more. Exponential growths can be a bitch.

We're just lucky the Chinaman in Sihanoukville had a transmission rate of 0, and all the other 3.000 Chinese who came in from Wuhan before Chinese new Year were not infected.
