Those Living Cheaply Under a Grand

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Thanks Hotdigr- kind of inspirational given you live in a tourist town.
Jonnopfc, do you know hotdigr in real life?
i think not because what you describe is not at all his situation.
sounds like you don't have enough fun and maybe see the world through a personal filter of despair?
chin up, the worst is yet to come........................

If you find inspiration in someone in their 50s living with a bunch of blokes and getting by on $600 a month then you, sir, a bottom-dwelling poltroon.

What I do not understand is why do you not look for a job here ? Economically it would make a lot of sense.

"living with a bunch of blokes"
but he is not. you should visit!
you might be surprised at your own assumptions.

as to who and what i am- where i dwell, your assumptions are highly flawed.
my car allowance amounts to more than the annual income of many barang in cambodia.
just to challenge your assumption.
no brag- just fact.

what i find inspring is those who have and make choices that lead to their own abiding satisfaction.
so many are manifestly lacking any satisfaction in life.
that is why they snipe from the sidelines- because they have no meaningful information to contribute.

I think if I was down in S'Ville and randomly popped round to Hotdigr's gaff to have a nosey around it would be pretty awkward for both of us.

It's a consideration, for sure.

did you ever consider he may be the landlord mate?
not that anyone owes you any explanations to your delusional assumptions.
maybe don't judge other by yourself in complete ignorance of any facts?
Hmm?

I did consider that, yes. I even said to my missus "You know what, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hotdigr's mates with the landlord".

She said "ooh, you know what, you could be on to something there, Jonno. You're so fucking smart"

you should listen to your wife jonno.
hotdigr is a discriminating chap you would admire and possibly wish to emulate.

he has an enviable life and wants for nothing.
