What a wonderful way of being and one of which we can all aspire to being. I guess it gives us hope.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 1:28 pm Personally, I no longer have any desire for much more other than somewhere interesting to walk or sit. Observing and engaging the world around me in very straightforward or uncomplicated ways is for me, very meaningful and fulfilling. A market, a river, a mountain, a lake.... a street sweeper to talk to,
. Many of us need very little to find meaning in life.

"not a single photo of family"? what a load of nostalgic nonsense. moving back to NZ seems to have turned stickman into a grandmother

Yep,, retired and nothing meaningful to do, so I made breakfast for two of the girls that stayed with me in PP, then took them to buy a pair of shoes each, then took them back home to Takhmau, where I washed the sheets on their beds, then their towels, next on the list was their school clothes,,, while their mother slept. Probably a continuation from what she has done for the last three days.

Well perhaps Stickman was a little bit late?
What I mean Is this topic has already been covered more or less, and why did we need to ask about meaning in retirement years when surely this is more important in younger years; because developing a meaningful behaviors whilst younger will surely translate into more of the same post retirement?

Electronics has been my hobby since I was 14, and Southeast Asia is not a bad place to do it since it's so close to China. I go to Shenzhen and come back with my suitcase stuffed. It's a little difficult to find things to work on since there are so many scavengers here and since the Thais do not throw things away the second they break like American do. Build small circuits or collect broken radios and TV's at the night sales and fix them.
The real meaning in life is still your family and relatives. Soon as the COVID restrictions are gone (if they ever go away) go home and visit your family and friends. Doing it twice a year adds meaning to my life. I've also managed to meet a few friends here that never ask me for money.

Having nothing meaningful to do really means you're too lazy to do anything. Look I planted tomatoes., cucumber, pakchoy 2 months ago not expecting to be here to harvest anything.

That was written back in January.Duncan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 2:29 pm Yep,, retired and nothing meaningful to do, so I made breakfast for two of the girls that stayed with me in PP, then took them to buy a pair of shoes each, then took them back home to Takhmau, where I washed the sheets on their beds, then their towels, next on the list was their school clothes,,, while their mother slept. Imagine the pile of washing building up while you're away. And those poor girls will have lost so much weight missing out on breakfast for so long.

No, I video chat with them every couple of days and make them show me that everything is clean and tidy along with their '' money book diary '' which shows what they spend every day, and they are piling on the weight with all the junkfood they are eating.Username Taken wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 11:07 amThat was written back in January.Duncan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 2:29 pm Yep,, retired and nothing meaningful to do, so I made breakfast for two of the girls that stayed with me in PP, then took them to buy a pair of shoes each, then took them back home to Takhmau, where I washed the sheets on their beds, then their towels, next on the list was their school clothes,,, while their mother slept.
