Following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak - News and Discussion
Re: Outbreak of Unidentified Coronavirus In China as New Year Approaches
True True. My misunderstanding.
The official stats i put the link, but I wouldn't believe China even though the WHO boss says they are sharing data.
The real info comes from the people there IMO who are posting.
It's brave of them to do so.
I wish the medical staff all the best. It's scary for them.

Tell that to their families.
Here is a link to the real stuff: quite graphic
So why is the silly fear mongering US pulling out? because they are dumb? France too.

I suspect that the leaked videos are possibly hoaxes or locals in the Wuhan area suffering from anxiety induced fainting, consider school/factory mass faintings here. I could be wrong, but people don't tend to just collapse and die from a flu while still healthy enough to get to public areas after doing some shopping. Easy to see how a hoax might be appealing to some individuals given how susceptible both the local and global population are right now, and equally the anxiety/stress being felt by those in quarantined cities is going to be pretty extreme.Kammekor wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 9:04 pmI don’t know. If the videos are true, the numbers aren’t.
But I question the numbers anyhow.
That said I do doubt the numbers, simply because they can't reflect the true numbers. There will be sick people who stay home out of fear of losing face or something, there will be people who don't exhibit symptoms or are simply carriers possibly infecting others. Then of course there are the people who don't have it, who are heading into hospitals which are overcrowded out of fear they are infected, but are more likely to be exposing themselves at the hospital.
Given it's viral, the best thing if you think you have got it is to stay home and take stuff to reduce the symptoms, drink lots of water, extra vitamins, and let your immune system fight it out. It's not like this is dengue haemorrhagic fever where you might need blood transfusions and other treatments not usually provided outside of a hospital.
Am setting some conditions on my in-laws, reducing their time in markets to 1-2 days a week tops, no longer taking my child there with them, and going to make sure as hell they're washing their hands properly and frequently, not touching their faces with their hands whilst out and not until they are home and are properly clean. Would rather use a few family-loyalty points on this and be sure, given I'm pretty sure it's already here and the authorities lack the capacity to handle something like this. I'm not worried yet, but I am moderately concerned at this stage.

of course any emerging virus is a concern
but i think social media acts like a laser
stimulating 'concerned' action by authorities
which in turn incandesces social media
china is putting on a good show
i have a mountain retreat prepared anyway, just in case
lol

PS.....People die from flu every year, nothing new, just a different strain, it's a good distraction from Brexit though......

As I say - watch the videos.. They are not fake or hoaxes. And what I have said is true. Watch the vids then decide. It's not fainting sir - they're brown bread and the hazmat guys are shown collecting them. A stiff is a stiff.AzalKH wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 9:34 pm

sorry, but you can't trust anything from china these days
and absolutely not tiktok, social media vids, etc
some of those falling-over vids are obviously fake
remember, the 'monetization' is simply people watching your vid
so make something lots of people will watch
k-ching
the first lesson in critical thinking should always be 'cui bono'

@Mishmash Didn't you claim you were a trained military at some point? Aren't military trained to keep their head cool in whatever situation they're in? To me, it seems you're losing it, for whatever reason.Mishmash wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 10:36 pmAs I say - watch the videos.. They are not fake or hoaxes. And what I have said is true. Don't believe everything you see or read or hear on social media. It has always been a good practice to check and double-check something you read or hear or see, but in this time of fake news spreading like viruses, you should triple check and still be careful presenting it as 'the truth'.
Although I also have my doubts about official casualty figures, I don't have any proof of the figures being much higher. I've seen the videos you linked to and not all seem genuine to me. A few are apparently, but even then it's difficult to exactly determine what you're seeing.
Re: Outbreak of Unidentified Coronavirus In China as New Year Approaches
I uploaded a few to youtube as people keep commenting without actually watching on Twitter and providing feedback.
The posters are actually real people in Wuhan and I doubt anyone is so sick as to do this for some kind of joke.
There are others.

I don't recall ever saying that. The men received the training. I was there. Facilitator would be a more correct term.
I did teach 30+ guys to pass the ASVAB if that makes it easier. Heaps of other stuff too.
Just made sure they knew enough to work with the US and AUS servicemen.
10 got selected for a scholarship at the Academy in Australia and one became the Defense Attache stationed in South Korea.
I worked at the NCTSF, High Command, NCTC, The Navy Base at Chroy Changva and the Airforce at Pochentong.
As for being cool headed - nahhhh.
