Careful on the Roads over Chinese New Year

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

A reminder to all that over the holidays there are more road accidents than usual because there are even more idiots on the road than usual; more road users and more drunks. Chinese New Year is no exception, so be careful out there.

Cambodia News (Takeo): On January 24, 2020, at 2:30 pm, there was a fatal accident between a car and a motorbike in Rokar Pok, Bati district, Takeo.

The police reported that a 22-year-old man on a motorbike was killed when he was driving fast and furiously and crashed into a Highlander car. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and he died instantly. The car driver escaped with light injuries.

After the incident, the police went to check the accident scene and took both vehicles to keep at the police station, waiting to sort the problem out later.

Its sad and disturbing news to read of these type of road accidents at anytime of the year. But most will know that its not just a presumed, nor that of a wild guess, over an holiday period alcohol consumed by a person and being in charge of a Vehicle would be the main cause towards many accidents. Causing someone's death or your own is unnecessary anywhere, where their are other forms of transport to get you home more safely, if you are to drink don't drive. Think of the hurt to the victims family members at anytime of year. How do you get the message across to people who would drink and drive?
Always "hope" but never "expect".
