Re: Outbreak of Unidentified Coronavirus In China as New Year Approaches

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Hey all forum members,
If you post anything suggesting that there are cases of Wuhan coronavirus in Cambodia, please cite a source, or state clearly that it is hearsay. There are a lot of rumors flying about, and Cambodians are particularly suceptible to scary unsubstantiated facebook tales.
The fact that the Cambodian authorities also use facebook to make official announcements adds to the confusion, but we will try to keep to the facts, and steer clear of the fake news.
Thanks, CEO News

In London a couple of days ago, the planes landing direct from Wuhan were supposed to be screened. Instead the passengers were given leaflets about the symptoms. Like the Chinese didn't know already all about it? And it was printed in English thus making it useless for the vast majority of the Chinese passengers.

Typical British half baked attempts to do something without offending people.

Fortunately, the Chinese are not as squeamish and just cancelled all the flights from Wuhan (to everywhere) thus fixing the problem.

Same in Paris. That Air France flight I posted about earlier (and that left Wuhan after the so-called 'lockdown') did have passengers, but there was no screening at arrival whatsoever...

If the ministry says so, it must be true.

I just wonder if the facilities to confirm the presence of this new virus are available in the KoW.... in a country not even able to diagnose a common PAP smear sample.....

Apparently the diagnostic test was quickly and easily developed
- because it is similar to SARS.

"I would think" that Cambodia has testing available.
But Kam-k makes a good point ^^^, we cannot be sure of that,
nor if an appropriate testing regime will be implemented.

I totally agree with News about false rumours,
but equally, we cannot assume that an "official" clearance means that it is not already here.
Keep that in mind, but be careful about how you express any doubts, especially to locals. i guess.

Not a good time to travel in a flying incubator in this part of the world.

I wonder if a plane is less safe than any other crowded space in SEA... at least in a plane all the air is replaced every few minutes or so and all kind of filters are used. Safer than a fish market in Wuhan I guess...
