Re: My Cialis, bought at a large chain of modern pharmacies in pp turned out to be fake.
There were some great points brought up by the previous posters.
and I'd like to another big problem
Manufacturing process - Fakes:
Most tablets are made as a powder first. They are mixed in a large mixing container to create the powdered version of the medicine.
Then, the next batch of is made.
The catch is, one company/lab will be making a variety of different medicines/vitamins/drugs.
So the VAT's have to be washed before the new meds are made. This ensures that your flu medicine does not contain Cialis.
In sports this is a common problem, causing the tainted supplement scandals that have hurt innocent athletes since the 90s.
When a company is making fake meds, I can only imagine what else they are making there. And are the vats even washed out? What contaminants are in my meds?
So many problems.
This also affects labs that have untrained staff or are trying to save a buck.
So , yea. Not all medicines are the same. The place it's made matters.

Thanks OP for this topic. It's a timely reminder for expats to be wary of fake medicines.
So is it fair to say that on the balance of probabilities, generics are likely to be safer than name brand products given those could be fakes? After all, generics are not pretending to be something they're not..unlike the fakes which are effectively dishonest crooks..
I guess there could be fake generics too (or even dodgy generics) but logically I'm thinking the likelihood would be smaller given there's less $$ in it.
I normally buy generics here in PP that are made in India but I've sometimes wondered whether that is wise but now that I've read this topic about name brand fakes, I'm not so sure.
Also, where you buy is also likely to be a factor presumably..I go to Pharmacie de la Gare.

"I go to Pharmacie de la Gare". Seconded. Not always the cheapest but the closest thing to guaranteed genuine you will find in PP.

My usual go to pharmacies are closed today, so I visited a U-Care.
The same medicine, made by same manufacturer, Is $1.30 more expensive than both other pharmacies - for a blister pack of 7.
I was due 20c in change and was handed 200 riel (I didn't feel it worth arguing over), and left.
I won't be going to U-Care pharmacies any longer.

I had some special planned at home for tonight and happened to open up some Cialis i bought from a very reputable multi-chain modern pharmacy late last year.
I had already taken one of the pills from the box, last year, but then decided to stop taking Cialis because I felt crappy.
It got my teeth chattering, almost like how meth and speed have been described by people.
Even when i was younger, I never liked anything that felt like an upper. My personal preference was always a nice drink, or a smooth roll.
So i stayed off the next pill in the box. Just assumed Cialis is not for me.
Which brings me to today, when i decided to give it another try.
Just on a hunch,
i googled how the packages should look like, and found quite a few sites that confirmed it.
I had bought fake Cialis. (Not generics)
Here's one:
https://www.safemedicines.org/2011/06/a ... anada.html
but you can find many more sites with more information on how to spot the differences on your packaging.
Please DON'T be an idiot like me. Check your packaging if you have any lying around tonight.
I bought my Cialis from a reputable pharmacy in PP, Because i wanted to be safe, and spending a bit more was worth it. Hahahah...
But it turns out the fakes don't discriminate. They might be in any pharmacy.
This is the exact packaging I have, although with a different date.

Fakes can contain anything... at best it's weaker, at worst it kills you.
Generics tend to be just diluted, impurer versions of tadalafil. Although generics can also be fake.
So take care fellow men.
Take an extra minute to verify the packaging of these types of meds.
edit:
Even more so if you bought Cialis because it's not as dangerous as Viagra and you can have a few moderate drinks with it.
No idea how the fake pills will react to alcohol.
(I refrained from posting photo's of my packaging because it may identify the pharmacy I got them from. If a mod wants to see them, I'll take a few pics for you)
Thats an odd coincidence. My Cialis bought from a very reputable multi-chain modern pharmacy late last year turned out to be real. My dick turned out to be fake.

Jerry,
compare the back of the pack against this...
Authentic medication on the left; counterfeit medication on the right
If you got the one on the right, you've probably got, Sildenafil.

I wasn't buying Cialis. It was a stomach capsule.ofparadise wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 2:18 pm Jerry,

For reasons related to my Asian heritage, European pharmacies never gave me any confidence, but after this, I will head to Pharmacie de la Gare for even mundane stuff like b-12.clutchcargo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 2:05 pm Thanks OP for this topic.
