Relocating back home after a while
How was it ?
Piece of cake or back to the shitshow ?
Any poster willing to share about his feeling relocating back home, especially after a big while around here ?
Departures in a hurry
Back to misery
Bringing an exotic partner
Re-connecting with your local fanbase
Re-appreciation of local life
Please share about the weird if you wish...

Re: Relocating back home after a while
I moved back to California after 12 years in asia back in 97, (didn't have to but wanted to) lasted 15 months, brought a house, new car, daughter in good school, wife had a good job
BUT.....
BUT.....
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

When returning don't mention at parties or social gatherings you've spent time in the Phnom Penh, the Himalaya, Maluku..., or if you do, be prepared for being told how Legian has changed so much in the last six months, where the best hair braiding salon is and how amazingly cheap the last haul of sarongs were.

Re: Relocating back home after a while
On the Frog side of it :
More hamsters with small wheels
More beards with tatooed forearms selling overpriced chestnust beers
More demos (with reasons)
And freezing nuts (although warmer than previous winters).
Also shit fashion clothing for the youngs, more formal politeness in the shops, less in the streets, more meaningless infos on medias, tv is long dead, more controls & checking (admin and else), less industry, more employment agencies to run less employment, less stable employment, more middlemens, less direct contact beetween people, more apps to deal with it, a bit less vulgarity (except tv of course), but more superficiality.
ads and commercial operations looks more than before like a "desperate run to sell it all before too late '' kind of vibe.
The industrial collapse is something. Even leading companies do not pay much more than the minimum wage, for high quality work and high selling price. It's a shit show on the work side of life, if thinking like in the 90s.
I guess it's might be the same vibe for many in many places, but please tell...
Weird feelings do occur, it's a strange thing to be back indeed.

Every foreigner should go back home for a week or two every year so that they can stop complaining about where they are now.
