Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. I'm surprised only three people were injured.

Given that 3 foreigners were injured out of 26, I'd assume that in this case none of the 6 Cambodians were injured. Will see what the follow-up report say though.

Luckily, the bus was only built to carry 10 people and the 33 were crammed in so tight it limited the injuries.
I suspect nearly everyone on here has a story to tell about bus rides or private car rides from PP to Kampot or Sihanoukville..
I was warned not to hire a car by a mamasan at a riverside bar years ago...take the bus she advised.
She was right..the Lexus driver thought he was at the Indy 500 and was talking on 3 different phones.
Why do people have to infer that the Khmer passengers' well being is unimportant?
What do you gain from this division?

Ten tourists injured in Kampot bus crash

A tourist bus on Saturday plunged into a ditch in Kampot province’s Toek Chhou district, injuring 10 foreigners.

Chan Dara, Prey Khmum commune police chief, yesterday said that 33 people were on the bus, 27 of whom were foreigners, and they were travelling along National Road 3 from Siem Reap province to Preah Sihanouk province.

He noted the foreigners, including Russian and Czech nationals, were sent to the Kampot provincial referral hospital for treatment.

“So far, we do not know the reason for the accident because the driver and two assistants fled the scene, Mr Dara said. “We are now looking for them.”

He said police believe that the driver was feeling sleepy, noting that if he was he could have handed over the driving to an assistant.

“From initial investigations, we suspect that the bus driver was overtaking a car in front of him and veered too much to the right and plunged into the ditch,” Mr Dara added.
