I recall being in Chiang Mai when one of you 'artists' defaced a temple wall.
Why don't you paint on your own property?
I grew up with a great artist.
I have been into art all my life.
I buy art from artists from all over the World.
tagging and being a punk little bitch is not art.
It is vandalism.
You are the kind of people that would applaud a punk spray painting Angkor Thom...

yeah, nah.

Angkor Thom graffiti of any kind is nok.

Tagging is crap.

Art is art, no matter where it is - and it can enhance an environment.
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

BR549 I think Sir you have totally misunderstood the thread and what it is about. Yes it's about art, which you have the right to dislike this type of art, It does not please all tastes, here in certain aspects I can agree with you, due to not all of the artwork being in my taste too, but we must agree, just to some it does appeal and is art to very many. We could argue of the works and styles of the past masters, such has Van Gogh with his style of works, being that of a post impressionist painter,or Jackson Pollock with his style of Abstract Expressionism, I think they are both famous, great artists in there own rights and skills. But even saying that their works would not look out of place on a building wall. What of the greatest Michelangelo. I count myself to be a very lucky and privileged person to see his artwork high upon the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, but although the work carried out was good, I have seen better of what I would call art, within the artists sculptures to start with, David, what a masterpiece. Seeing the work in Bruges of Madonna and Child left me with a tear to my eye.
With the thread in question we had discussed the artwork and artists in question. I have no idea whom the artists are who have painted this work, I wish I could find out more, that for my own interests and of others who maybe interested too, this is the second area I have visited now, where I like some of the works, that I would call more of Street Art and not the Graffiti and Tagging along side this, but the artists sign their work in this way. I would not in any way would think this work in two populated areas of the city is an illegal act of vandalism. Such an act was the cause in the past with the man in the title of this thread. Banksy, who did paint on peoples property, something I personally do not agree with. Nor that of vandalism in any way at a temple or historic site. I don't know what your outlook is or your taste is of art, likes and dislikes, apart from the one you don't like here, I myself are very open to all manner of artworks. You are very lucky let us say being in the circles of the art around yourself, and more so to be able to be in a position to buy works from around the world. That in itself is something many can't do, but you like art like you have said, if it was a case of buying has an investment you may have been better buying one of Banksy's works, that of him being a vandal would have made you a more wealthier person. But like you have said you yourself have been around art and artists all your life it would have been nice of you to contribute in a possible more positive way, for I Sir are just out there taking photographs of the Street Art as a interest, and sharing with others on the forum who would like to see.

I see one worker taking a smoke break while the other 2 are working.
I had to deal with this issue for years. Staff members who smoked would take breaks while staff members who didn't smoke kept working..
It caused problems.
I was also a smoker. I had a policy that I never smoked at work.
You are assuming these are what? slaves? One is going to have a smoke?
That is supposed to be some kind of message?
What does someone from brooklyn know about life on a plantation?
As a manager I also had to deal with this for years. Smokers were taking 5 minute cigarette breaks once an hour, but non smokers were going of chatting with people in other offices for 10 minutes an hour. A famous study by barclays bank about 20 years ago discovered that most people at work spenf on average 1 hour a day engaged in social activity and concluded it was good for productivity. Dont matter if you are popping out for a smoke or chatting about the weekend with a co-worker at the coffee machine. If you never smoked at work how can you claim to be a smoker?
If someone has to explain a banksy to you then you just don't get it and probably never will. I would say ia lot of his stuff is very English culture oriented and if you don't come from the Uk its probably not so easy to identify

Edward

i just found my guy
not so much that the artwork style is exactly by bag, although he is for sure an accomplished artist.
but the canvas, the format
and especially as it is so irrevocably in the spirit of "Do It - Let It Go, the instant it is finished "
that true street art stands for.
These works will go with the wind and tide in a matter of hours.

Then worth watching this short time lapse vid of the creation process of one of his works

'Banksy of Barwon Heads', very interesting art form SternAAlbifrons. How natural too, the tide comes in and the work of the artist is claimed by the sea. It would be difficult to do here, most of the sands have been sold.

must of missed this so sorry for late reply but yes your correct. Slaves .. they arent working as we define what "work" is Unsure why your so pissed and angry about it bro.... Agree i never was or worked on a plantation.. nor would i want to.

if you cant see the "message" in this work that is ok. We all come from and have different life experiences .. .so below is the interpretation of it... easy to just copy and paste. I think it has a deep message and felt something when seeing the image. Anyway the below explains it better then i could

Millet represents the plight of the lower class with a sympathetic tone. Gleaner’s were the poor who were allowed to pick up the remaining wheat after the harvest.

Here, Banksy takes Millet’s objective one step further, letting the characters escape the limits of the canvas and escape the limited interpretation that goes along with the static quality of an image. Further, by ‘cutting’ another artists work – he is appropriating it as his own – giving his work power over Millets.

It also reminds us that these characters can have an existence outside of the frame – and we can consider who they might be in a whole new way.

I had to deal with this is issue to. Staff who smoked took a five minute break every hour. Staff who didnt smoke went off on a socila tour of the office asking aboout lipstick colour every half an hour. A very big Barclays bank study years ago concluded that most staff spend an hour a day socialising and it is good for performance. Don't much matter wether they spend the time having a cigarette or chatting about makeup really
