Immigration Detention

Hi, i believe my son is being held in Immigration Detention for overstaying his visa and has been for the last week. I am in Australia and am very concerned for him. Please can anyone give me information as to how to find out? Who can I get in touch with regards if this is so or any help would be appreciated.

if he is in detention your embassy should have been notified. they are the best people to contact

as above, call ur embassy and ask them.
if they dont know,they will find out for you.

I wish you the best, this situation must be stressful. Do you think that he overstayed for a long time ? Usually it's not difficult to clear the situation if you have money, do you know if he had enough cash with him ?

Why do you believe he is in immigration detention? Did he tell you he was going to the immigration department to turn himself in?

They don't proactively arrest non-homeless overstayers.

I think you will find they do. Its just reported as they hand themselves in
