She's Hot.

Post by Duncan »

In-case you haven't seen on ABC TV, Australia is burning. Record temperatures , highest in 100 years, bushfires everywhere, even in rain forests where it has never ever had fires before. Smoke levels in Sydney were higher than pollution levels in Bangkok , Manila or Jakarta .

The big Murray / Darling river is bone dry and this has all been going on for months now , and it's not even into the peak summer season.

The end of the world as we know it has arrived.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Australia's hottest day on record
Ben Domensino, 18 December 2019

Data suggests that Australia experienced its hottest day on record this week.

According to preliminary figures evaluated by the Bureau of Meteorology, Australia's average maximum temperature on Tuesday, December 17th was 40.9 degrees. This is the highest average national maximum temperature on record, beating 40.3 degrees from January 7th, 2013.

The national average maximum temperature is calculated by adding up the maximum temperature values from a range of weather stations across the country and averaging them out to get a single figure.

Based on the widespread nature and intensity of this week's heat, it's possible that Tuesday's record could be surpassed on Wednesday and Thursday. However, we probably won't know these result until the following days, when the maximum temperatures have been quality controlled and analysed.

In addition to the national heat record, a number of individual location and state records are also likely to be broken across Australia this week.

From one extreme to the other.

Adelaide almost registers coldest January day on record
Ben Domensino, 6 January 2020

Adelaide came close to registering its coldest January day on record on Sunday.

The temperature at Adelaide's West Terrace weather station only reached 16.6 degrees on Sunday, thanks to a blanket of cloud streaming down from a low pressure system off Australia's northwest coast. This is about 13 degrees below average for this time of year and lower than the city's lowest January maximum temperature on record, which was 17.1 degrees in 1970.

Wow..hottest day in 100 years....
It reminds me of the headlines about India having massive heatwaves breaking all their records last year.
I noticed the temps were not even above normal for my home state in July.
The weather does change.
100 years ago in Australia you sure couldn't blame mankind for causing it.
When the glaciers moved south and melted carving out and creating The Great Lakes mankind was not around to cause it.
Take a gander at a map and you can see that Brazil and Africa used to be attached.
People walked from Asia to Alaska.
We just celebrated on Boxer day the anniversary of a Tsunami that killed over 250,000 people.
Californians have built million dollar homes in drought plagued tinder boxes and have paid a huge price.
They have built houses and hotels on coastal edges and had them fall into the sea due to mudslides.
I have a house in tornado alley where droughts, flooding, ice storms, blizzards, dust storms and occasional beautiful days all exist.
The folks in New Orleans and many other areas along the Mississippi River could of learned a great deal from the Khmer wooden house on stilts floorplan.
Change happens.

Weather is not climate. Let me guess, there is snow in Kansas so logically global warming doesn t exist. There were no fossil fuels when Noah had to build his ark so fossil fuel use does t cause climate change, .and windmill cancer is the greatest threat to mankind. Oh and when the wind doesn t blow you can t watch TV because electricity can not be stored in batteries. If extinction was good enough for the dinosaur it is good enough for me

These bush fires were predicted! ...... 6 months ago by those within the profession %)
Though I'm a firm believer in climate change this has more to do with land management, funding cuts & the lack of infrastructure. Aboriginals have been back burning for thousands of years!
