There's a guy on Facebook who seems to be recommended. CNM Cambodia or something.

Why do you need an agent to help buy a car? Agent will be on a commission, therefore making your purchase more expensive than it needs to be. Having worked in the car business for 30 years, and in Cambodia, I'll help you for free. Just PM me. Happy to help.

main reason to use a reliable agent is; khmers lie, the mileage will not be correct, you wont know a mechanic to have the car checked out, They will find you a good car and run the autocheck for you,( alone cost $40-50) you wont know how, where to do ur registration and they will assist you.
etc

So you will do all this for free? OK< lets chat

For $150 +50 for the ministry checkup, its a great deal

A separate moto thread said a barang cannot register an existing registered moto in their own name...leaving new and imported not previously registered motos only.

I gather from the above links this does not apply to used, registered cars?

I think it applies to all vehicles. If you want to see how the cares are "prepared"for sale take look in the road behind Thai Hout supermarket on monivong near the senate, or Depo market. if that doesn't put you off a used vehicle nothing will!
