There aren't any parks that would compare in any way with, say, Central Park, Lumbini Park, Regent's Park or Phoenix Park. There are just a few small ones like the one in front of Wat Botum, the verges between Independence Monument and Naga 1, the Riverside and around Wat Phnom.
It's terrible compared to other cities.

Those are good examples but I was thinking of something much smaller. In NYC there are elementary - High School schools and attached to them.. there would be a park. Maybe for running, playing basketball or handball. Maybe thats unreasonable because those are American sports? I know there is a stretch of grass where they do the exercising and dancing by the water near Riverside. Just thinking of somewhere where kids can play

If you made a park with trees and grass, the little bastards on their mopeds would still race through it on their way to and from school.

It's the boys I am referring to, the girls are much more sensible and ride with at least a modicum of caution, albeit with 3 onboard and not a crash helmet in sight...

HEALTH WARNING... If anyone walks along Norodom between 184 and 214 on the east side, you are right outside Chaktomuk High School. I strongly urge you to walk in a straight line. The kids use the pavement as if it were the road and come at you form all directions including the rear, so steer a straight path or you might end up with a moped up your arse. All this is done in plain view of the stupid police officers on traffic patrol at each corner.

There used to be an incredibly beautiful area/park near Canadia Industrial Park off of Veng Sreng Street. It had a beautiful lake, which had cute walkways directly through some portions of the lake, a few seating huts above the lake which were accessible via a walkway, shitloads of trees and huge potted flowers, about a dozen King Cobras in a cage, ducks, fish, even some concessions vendors for snacks, and well, just about everything for an incredibly relaxing time. You could walk around the entire lake. It was wonderful, emphasis on 'was'.

Pretty much only the locals/factory workers knew of it. I was lucky to have been introduced to it by an ex gf.

But, thanks to the aforementioned lack of regulation in planning, the fucking Chinese assholes came and completely ruined it, and have come in with earth movers, filled in the entire lake, cut down many of the trees, and have begun building a multi unit development on the land.

Pissed me off, and still does.

Of course this is all true and sad but this is easily reachable with a bicycle in 50 minutes.

You know who else did a great job of building public parks and spaces? The Soviets. Most major cities in Russia and the former republics have a lot of great green (or grey) public space.
